So im upgrading.....

and i wanna know what the big dogs use.

I have upgraded my space, it is now 3x's the size. I am also upgrading my lights. Gonna have a 1k going with the 600w thats in there now.
i do wanna keep it as cheap as possible, but im gonna get everything i need upfront so...

My questions are:

1. CO2....should i go with the 20lb tank or get the generator?

2. Is a CO2 controler needed or can i get away with a injector and timer.

3. Light movers. What kind and is it really needed? As of right now i have three different stands for my lights. The lights are on a thick wooden stick and i move them around thru the day. I can also move the plants around and do so a few times a day.
Would a light mover make much of a difference than what i am doing now? I enjoy moving my lights and plants even when they are big....keeps me in touch with them and they have NEVER gotten as big as FDD monsters so the moving them isnt a prob.

4.If you had one thing about your garden you think would improve your growth/yeild....what would it be?

Answer 1. Get the bottle. Burner adds heat and is good if your room were bigger.
Answer 2. I am tring to figure this out right now 2. You don;t need a controller. You can do it with a digital timer. You have to calculate room size then times that by how many cubic feet per minute the injector is running at. Once it runs for the right amount of time the room is "charged" meaning that the co2 level is between 1500ppm and 2000ppm (you may want to get a tester to make sure) I think you should probably exhaust the co2 out once or twice a day.

1&2 I think the generator will be more cost effective in the long run. I don't use CO2 but my coop buddy does and he goes through that stuff like water. Remember...you'll need to shut down intake and exhaust fans too so you'll have the added expense of that control work.

3. If you LIKE the work moving them then why consider a light mover.

4. More light BUT that is too costly for me. I'm running (3) 400, (1) 600, (4) 150w CFL's and all the associated fans, pumps, timers, controllers, etc. With A/C season here my utility bill is already through the roof.

i disagree...i think your exhaust should be shut off....but your intake should stay on....put a damper on your exhaust.

i also think a controller is necessary. you can find devices to control your humidity and temps as well as co2....

those formulas can work...but are often off...not precisely accurate...

Hey Loud....whassup? Haven't heard from you in a while.

I was just assuming that, as with most homes the leakage is unbelievable and figured he'd need to contain the CO 2 as long as possible. Thats why I don't use it. My room leaks so much it'd be throwing money away.

do you realy like c02 that much you want it too grow that much quicker,If you upgrade your lights the fucking things going to go bullistic.it just speeds the growth process, fuck bro!if you get two hid lights ,its on .and you dont use co2 inn the flowering stage. for all that shit getting the tank filled every month it just seems to me a lot of work and money just for c02,just keep air circulating in your room with a fan . just trying to save you a buck.and LB has you dialed inn if you do want c02

Thanks a ton for the info guys. Sorry i got called to work and wasnt able to check back before now.

I think im gonna go with just the injector and not the generator....jsut for heat issues and i think the room is small enough(about 10x5) that it would be overkill.

I am still debating over the controller tho....you guys brought up good points for both sides.

I have found CO2 suppliers in my area and i think this is gonna run about $200 for the CO2 setup with another $200 for the 1k light.
This is gonna be a great harvest!

If you have any more suggestions i am all ears.

your only gonna use 1600watts for a 10x5..eather add a light or shrink that room...peace az

CO2 is HIGHLY overrated. if you ventilate your room properly you don't really need it.

NO CO2 used for these ...........................

Feel free to PM any time. As far as the new projects I'll save you the time of reading the past journal and give you an update. I was growing Papaya and H Kush from seed. After I went to 12/12 the freeking things got out of control with respect to plant height. It was one problem after another. I didn't have the room for proper LST...I couldn't raise the lights any higher, and I was training the colas every day just to keep them away from heat. I had a pump AND ballast fail in the last 3 weeks of flowering....naturally on a Friday (and my local hydro shop is closed on Mondays) so I went 3 days before replacement. I also had some nute "issues" which I caused myself. I switched from GH to Advanced and tried a lot of their additives (overdrive, B-52, Dr. Hornbys, etc. ). I think all I managed to do was over nute at the worst possible time. It was an OK harvest with OK weed but I'm going back to my old methods. This time my Moms were big enough that I was able to get some good clones. I went straight from the aerocloner to the flower area and they've been in there about 3 weeks. I now have some nice SHORT ladies that are already stinking up the place and showing the beginning stages of some nice trichs. :hump:

What's going on in your part of the world?

so you guys are saying go 2600w in 10x5 space?
I figured 1600 would be plenty with moving the lights.
If i go 2600w should i do the 600w with MH?

i know alot of what the CO2 companies say about 30-100% better yeild is marketing. But with a fart fan for outtake and direct AC vent for fresh air you really say hold off on cos cuz it should be enough? I was gonna set it up so that the fan would kick on every 15 minutes and the co2 to kick on when that goes off....rotate ya know.
