So, I spliced two plants...

I live in the country and I have a lot of room to build sheds/rooms for experiments and whatnot.

I have a shed split into two rooms - one is the nursey/mother room - other side is flower/dry room. Behind this shed is another room, slightly bigger and is my veg room.

I have a total of about 70 plants. ranging from sprouts to one flowering Santa Cruz.

Since I started growing I've been severely interested in keeping males separated and using them to cross breed plants. I even want to make a stress chamber where I can force clones/seeds to become male so I can use them for breeding. Basically it would contain low/high humidity, lower/higher than ideal temperatures, minimal watering, nutrient deficiencies, etc - I will keep them alive but stressed so I get herm/males.

Anyways I recall learning about splicing fruit trees and whatnot so I figured, why not?

I took one healthy Blueberry #4 clone, and one healthy Purple Dragon clone. They both had intense roots so it kind of hurt to cut them out =(

What I did was act like a normal clone on each plant, but I cut an extra long angled slit on one side of both plants, and then grafted them together using Clonex rooting gel, and placed firmly in a root riot starter cube.

Here's a few results I expected to get:

1) Dead plants

2) Plants will fuse and I'll end up with two separate plants growing normally in one medium.m Bud will either be crosses, or totally separate.

3) Plants will fuse and I'll end up with three plants, either all similar bud, or 2 different types on each side with one new growth in the middle which is a combination of the plants.

4) Plant turns into a hermie or male

5) Plants produce no bud

I did some Googling and found an old article and someone claimed it won't produce bud, so I figured that'd be one of the outcomes.

It also seems like I'm on of the few people who are growing just to have fun and play around with it.

I will post pics up later, and I also have some new amazing pictures of the LED usage between vegging and flowering plants.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ad.

I'm calling it Blue Dragon, but it seems like it already exists but may not be the same cross?

Purpleberry?

Blue Dragon 69.

Auwww yeah

its possible, and you will get two separate plants growing from the same root system. another way to just fuse one, or more, mothers to one already growing mother plant so you get one mother with a bunch of strains

I see how that would save space, and makes sense because you really don't need a huge mother plant to make clones.

Thanks! I don't know how to give rep or I'd give you some for the reply. Sounds like a great idea on how I can consolidate my mothers if I end up with two strains in one plant. I'm going to make them side by side though with my other ones and look for difference in quality, taste, amount, etc.

I take photos regularly and all my plants are getting the same supplements, light cycle, etc. Only thing different is one room has 2 (40wattWarms) and 2(40wattdaylights) mixed together in the veg room without LED panels - however I'm ordering two more today from Amazon.

haha thats sounds fun i wanted to do shit like that i wanted to try and fuse weed with a plant from the same family tree (okra or a tea plant) it will omly work if there from the same family tree tho.

we need more mad scientists like you lol you never no you might find the fastest foluring or most potant strain by cross breeding. good luk :bigjoint:

Lol, thanks!

I just got a text message from a buddy saying he's getting rid of a cabinet. I just found somewhere to put the two new LED panels haha. Hydroponic cabinet maybe? Hmm...

This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff. - Bill Murray

Got a pic?
Oops, forgot to upload it lol.

Here we go.

I bought hydroton because I'm creating a cabinet hydro.

I put hydroton on the top soil because I read roots don't grow all the way to the top because of the pressure water creates when hitting the soil.

Thats called Grafting, I just got done doing it (took 2 tries to get it to work).

Just no there is not going to be any gene splicing or anything crazy, its not going to make a new kind of weed your just going to have 2 separate plants growing on one.

I took a razor and made a normal cutting as with clones, but I basically sliced the bottom of both plants in half, and then faced the two cut halves together as if to make one solid trunk.

so that's all you did was just stick them together? you didn't use any kind of gardening glue or anything?

No, I didn't want to create any kind of barrier between the two plants. I wanted them to be able to easily bond and root. I used a twist tie at the base above the root riot cube, and they are snuggly fit into it so they can grip and spread out.
