smokin pollen

I have been curing up some males for testing and just smoked the first of them. Honestly I'm pretty impressed, flavor was a little leafy but also nice and fuely, and I have a hell of a nice buzz. Gonna puff on a different pheno every morning for a while and try to pick out some good ones!

I chopped all these early and I am hoping to find a few standouts to finish up and do furthur testing on. So far out of 30 beans I have 4 males that have visible trichs. And many more beans to pop!

Damn, your tolerance must be low to get a good buzz from males .

I smoke between 3 and 10 grams a day, before the dabs. I tend to have thc stuck to most surfaces around my house. My tolerance is far from low. I'm not saying when I roll a fat OX joint in a few minutes I will not be a lot higher. I was just not expecting much and it got me nice and high, as well as showed a decent amount of the parents flavor. Have you smoked a lot of male tops? I have only a few times before and this is my first time really labeling, curing, and putting some thought into it. Every male I have picked up until now has been more based on luck and trying to find as many positive traits as I can. I feel that I may have got it right, or close.

I would personally want to smoke my males for potency and flavor before selection into my breeding program, as it is the best way for me to ascertain the quality/traits I may be looking for in either sex. That said, I'm no pollen chucker

I am going to sneeze bahaha , I have smoked my share of males through the years and back in the early 90's we had too many droughts that forced us to smoke males and all the leaves we could safely pull without killing the plants lmao . I remember slinging leaves back then and to be honest most of the leaf matter was more potent than the brick weed that became elusive most every summer .

I choose males a bit differently than most but it is all good as there are many ways to skin a cat and to each there own , I have to grow males out and watch them in order to understand what structure they may be passing on , yes potency is important in genetic selection but so is structure and Terpene traits ..

I am only breeding for quality of high and flavor. I do want nice strong plants but I figure if I can make stable seeds of what I prefer to smoke I can F1 those with some other strain that contributes yield and vigor. Still early to tell what they will end up like but they are some healthy strong plants.

oh..... I left out..... these are a mix of ISP's Chem D bx3 and Reserva's OG. Most of them seem to have a more OG like structure and a more Chem D smell. And a couple of oddballs. I've pollen chucked a few times with ok luck but this is my first F2's.

And when I use them it will be F2's! I worded it poorly.

F2 on my man . I am searching through a jar now for F2 beans as I only used a small amount of pollen this round to test with , gotta say though it is fun to see what will become once you take an F1 beyond .

From now on you should try and only grow strains from breeders that don't test (smoke) there males.
