I'm pretty excited to get my first Led light tomorrow.
150w Qboard on an Amazon sale for $99.
20210304_004142.jpg

I'm planning to give it a try in the veg tent to replace to 600w ballast, running a 400w mh bulb @ 250w that I'm currently running...

The MH does a great job, so the Led has got some big shoes to fill. I'm thinking it should be enough light considering I only need about 2.5'x2.5' of coverage.

But with 2.7 umols, full spectrum with IR, and a wifi controller app it should at least be a fun new toy to play with.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow once it's up and running.

I've officially crossed to the dark side, and I have to admit it's bright!.

The 150w led came in today. Good packaging and solid construction.

Nice small hanging footprint.
20210306_173403.jpg
Roughly 30~32k lux @ 100% power/18 inches.
20210306_173907.jpg
Going to try running @ 70% power for now.

I'm hopeful this works well. If it does, I'll only be using 1/10th the wattage for veg that I use for flower.

Fingers crossed for my first led.

I ordered an Ac Infinity Cloudlab 2x2x4 tent to use for veg with the new Qboard.

I'm going to have it setup inside my 4x4x6.5 tent, utilizing it as my "lung room". This gives me space for humidity/temperature equipment and also allows me to keep proper environment in my 66F basement.

In preparation, I sectioned off a 2x2x4ish area in my 4x4 while I'm waiting for the new tent to arrive.

At 18" and 70% power, I'm getting really great coverage overall.

Can't wait for the Cloudlab to show up. Shipping today with an expected delivery of 4-12. I'm pretty sure once I get this all up and running well, I will be able to keep my 4x8 flower tent full with 3-4 plants in constant veg cycle.

Looking forward to saving $$$.

I'm liking this smaller veg setup. It got me back into LST again.
20210310_132823.jpg
I got heavy on the feed @1.8ec so I backed it off to 1.5. You can see the beginnings of clawing on the lower leaves.

I'll be moving the Cannarado Birthday Funk over to flower today, and popping 1 if not 2 more seeds tonight.

The plants are filling in and taking well to the LST. (Cannarado Birthday Funk right, GG#4 seedling, one of my own crosses in the back left.)

I have a few pepper seedlings I started a couple weeks ago for this summer's garden that have exploded since I made a small area for them in the back of the tent with a 24w T5 flourecent.
20210311_131223.jpg
I've gotten the feeling lately that 2kw hps is a bit overkill for my 4'x8' flower tent. I'm going to run 2- 600w hps from now on. So, to make sure the bulb is centered in my dominator hood I ordered some 3" socket extensions.
20210311_131514.jpg
I'll be swapping those out @ lights on today and see how things go.

Update from UPS this morning. The new tent is set to arrive tomorrow.
It's almost like Christmas Eve :)

Bulb swap completed. The 3" extension was definitely a must have to run the 600 bulb in the hood. It was way off center without it.

Took a few pictures of the plants.
20210311_194732.jpg
You can really see the deficiencies I went through from changing the system to hydroton and feed to Jack's 3-2-1.
20210311_194755.jpg
I was feeding @ 50%, but have upped it to 100%
20210311_194815.jpg
The newest plants are doing so well that the stems are staying a nice green even though the stretch.
20210311_194845.jpg
I'll be sticking to 1.5EC in veg and full strength 2.4EC in flower from this point forward.

Dropped another Expert Seeds Glueberry.
20210312_022605.jpg
The girlfriend and I really like the strain. It has a very sour grape citrus taste, and an intense but light feeling buzz. This will be my 4th plant of it from a freebie pack, so I need to order more. Looks like the name has now changed to Blueberry Glue though.

Got a message saying the tent is delayed until Monday. At least it will be filled to the brim the moment it shows up.

Looking good there smokey :) I was looking at your EC values running jack's. Spot on. I run my small veg plants at 650ppm or 1.3 EC and the plants love it. Any higher and I get leaf complaints. In flower I'm running the full formula that I had some success with a couple years ago prior to switching to maxi bloom. 3.6g jack's, 1.1g epsom, and 2.4g calcium nitrate PH adjusted to 5.8 brings me right to 1.8 EC. I just watered my flower room for the first time today with the full formula. I'm cautiously optimistic. I used the RIU search tool to find my old journal from around 2 years ago, and I posted that I was using the full formula. I'm glad I posted it, because I couldn't remember at all. That gave me the courage last night to mix up a 32 gallon batch of the full strength formula, and I was kinda shocked to see it clock in at 1.8 EC.

That batch of hydro was a strain of gg#4 and it was the best tasting hydro I've ever grown or smoked out of my garden. I'm testing a theory this cycle. I believe jack's provides a more balanced fertilizer resulting in more flavorful flowers with more desirable burn qualities. I've got 1 blue dream due to chop in about 2 weeks under the Geyapex COB light which is about 3 weeks ahead of my flower room. Dam light controller and flower room upgrades took me longer than I planned. I got a little behind, but we're back on track now :)

Being that you're using the same fertilizer I'll keep checking up on your journal. Great setup you have there and I'm always impressed every time I see your photos. Grow on my friend :)

Thanks for the kind words.
I started off growing 2 years ago with GH Flora trio. Didn't like all the mixing I was having to do at the time since I used soil and had no rez.
I switched to Megacrop and ran it for about the last year. Between to much nitrogen for flower, and the residue and fish smell from my rez, I wanted something better.

Jack's had been clean, ph stable, and now that I've got my Ec correct, it gives the plants everything they need.

Nice and easy the way I like it. I'll be sticking with it for a long time I'm sure.

I'll make sure to drop in on your journal and see how it's working out for you.

Happy growing.

Before and after some trimming and LST.

I really like the fact I made it possible to germinate directly in the system.
20210313_140526.jpg
It's super simple (literally you just put a seed in rockwool and place the net pot in the bucket) and has proven to work well.
The Blueberry Glue starting to crack.

Cannarado Birthday Funk has been moved into the flower tent, so the focus has changed to the GGX. (My own cross of Blue Dream and Gorilla Glue)

I decided to go all out on the defoliation/training for this one. It's been a while since I've done any serious training in veg. It's actually kinda fun again...

Edit..forgot to mention I got the Cloudlab tent and it's amazing for the price.
I put a post up over in the design section covering a little of it.

Keeping in the spirit of efficiency and change, I decided to setup the flower tent to run 2- 600w hps and my 315w cmh.
20210318_193527.jpg
I like the idea of 3 lights. 2 of the 600w hps just isn't enough for a 4x8 and 2- 1000w hps is too much heat/fans/electric to put up with.

I am keeping an eye out for the 150w led board I have in the veg tent to go on sale again. If they do, I'll be ordering 2 of them to replace the CMH.

I am loving this split up 4x4. It's running @ 78F/70%RH with the 2x2 @ 80F/65%RH.
20210320_141639.jpg
It gives me a mechanical area for heater/humidifier/dehumidifier
20210320_142351.jpg
A second location for some garden peppers, cactus, succulent and even a Cannarado Birthday Funk clone I cut last night, put into rockwool and am leaving uncovered.
20210320_141715.jpg
And finally, the 2x2 for the vegging ladies.
20210320_141722.jpg
I'm honestly pretty shocked at all the space I didn't know I had inside a 4x4.
