Smell?

What’s up guys!! So I’ve been curing my buds for about a month already and the smell is very faint. If I break it up the smell is there but not as strong as it was during the flowering stage. After harvesting I hung up the plants to dry. After about 6 days most of the stems snapped and some were almost about to snap but, took those down as well. Then I put them into mason jars with a hydrometer to cure, rh was in the high 60s for about a day then it slowly started creeping down by the 3rd day I put a 62% boveda pack in. I been burping the jars about twice a day for the first week for about 15-20 min then the 2nd week till now I been burping once a day but there was a bunch of times I would burp them and come back about 20-40 minutes later because I forgot about it then I would seal them back up. Right now buds look nice and they’re dense, and has good moisture content when I give it a squeeze they spring back. It smokes smooth too the ash is whitesh gray! Strain is blue dream. When I open the jar it doesn’t have a strong smell it’s really lite and buds aren’t as sticky as it was before I put them into jars. What am I doing wrong? This is the only problem I am having. How do I achieve the perfect cure with the in you’re face aroma that we all want? Here is some pics! Second pic is before I put plant into darkness for 48 hours!5BDED6E5-CEFD-49C3-8625-E3DD5A9FAD8D.jpegB3062B7E-320A-4F2F-BC48-FB9D79AAC287.jpeg

Not ready to harvest.. It looks weeks away from even breaking out the jeweler's loupe.
Dont bother with that thing till you stop seeing white pistils.
So when there is no white pistils left and trics are ready, plant is ready to harvest? This my 3 grow and I’ve had this problem with all previous grows before this one. I didn’t realize the white pistils meant it wasn’t ready I’ve been going off of trics. Thank you for the guidance and wisdom brother!!!

No worries man, it's a rookie mistake. You harvested too early. Now you know to let them fatten up for the next round.

Thankfully I had help to learn this stuff.

Listen to @Thundercat 's ROAR, lol.

Most cannabis plants mature in a very predictable manner. You need to watch for ALL the signs a plant gives before it is ripe.

First 90% + of the stigma(pistils) turn reddish and shrink towards the buds. That is the sign that the plant is done trying to reproduce and is beginning to mature.

Second after the stigma have changed the plant will begin to swell internally. It won’t get much bigger on the outside, but will get denser and put on significant amounts of weight. That usually takes 2-3 weeks. The bracts will begin to fatten and look plump.

Finally at the end of the swelling period you can check trichomes and look for your desired level of ripeness. It’s important to check trichomes on the buds not the leaves. And it’s also important to try to look at trichomes from the side to be able to really tell if they are cloudy yet. Looking from the top often gives a false impression of the ripeness because the rounded trichome head can magnified the opaque trichome stalk below it.

Did you grow hydro, i think hydro makes trichs age before the bud is finished.

Did you flush/fade/starve the plant of nitrogen? Elevated nitrogen levels fuck up the cure, regardless of what anyone tells you. I'm guessing you didn't if your stems were already snapping by day 6

Burping takes 5 seconds. Why would you leave the lids off? Burping has nothing to do with moisture, your buds should be dry before being jarred. If your buds are squishy, they are wet. What's with people thinking buds should be wet?

Why did you use a brovida? Throw that crap away. That shit is for dispensary shoppers who want to turn their dusty ass unflushed prematurely harvested mersh bud into "dank" by making it wet. I'm starting to think this is the only experience young growers have with Cannabis. That's why all the youngsters are confused, they've only seen weed from dispensaries before.

I've harvested early, like many of us have. I did it on my last run, made a rookie mistske. No biggie, but it won't reach its max. I found mine took about 6 weeks at around 65% rh to get to a nice smoke, and the scent slowly starts to increase. I still have a bit left, but now its about 3 months, and its really good.

Thank you for the step by step breakdown. I will definitely apply these tips to my next harvest. Mahalos!!!

I guess that’s been my mistake I’ve been making my past 2 grows along with this one. Harvesting to early. This grow was the best one I had so far, Thanks to everyone on here for dropping some knowledge on me.

A lot of the techniques I’ve been using were from watching YouTube videos, Mr Canuks mostly. But after finding this forum I’ve changed a lot of what I do because nothing is better then having someone to answer all the questions you have about growing. I’ve never been to a dispensary I live on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii we only have like 2 or 3 dispensaries on this whole island I think. I’ve always got buds from dealers which were my family/friends. I flushed the plant with strictly phd water for 2 weeks before throwing it into darkness for 48 hours. During those 2 weeks fan leaves started fading just a little I guess I need to take every sign into account and I was a little too eager!

It wouldn't hurt to keep trying different strains too. When I tried some Blue Dream it was kinda weak and I didn't keep it. My calyx's didn't swell like I liked and maybe it needed much more time than my usual 10 week schedule.

I actually do have a bunch of different strains going right now. I harvested a cream cookies from fast buds and a auto Moby dick the week after the blue dream. I got a zkittles auto, amnesia auto, another cream cookies auto, gsc auto, cherry pie, and a sunset sherbert all going right now.

I can tell from the picture of the bud it wasnt properly dry, hang for two weeks not 6 days. The reason why it was sticky, you want to wait till that stickyness goes too before jarring, trichs should be dry not sticky.

The smell and taste should be there before jarring, jarring should not lessen it ever or you jarred to early.

This is part of the perfect cure for you.

I've only ever grown one plant that smells a lot (Amnesia).
Almost no smell from everything else when growing, drying or curing, unless you break the bud up.
I've never worried, still gets me high after 4 or 5 puffs, and produces more than I could ever smoke.
I prefer everyone to not smell what I'm doing.

Plant looks fine, smoke it and enjoy it.
Ignore all the naysayers.

I dry in my WeDryer. It smokes good and taste good burns white ash it just doesn’t have the in your face smell when I open the jar. Buds are dry when I grab it and hold when I break it up smell is strong and it’s sticky. I just wasn’t satisfied with the smell as I open the jar and the outside feel of the buds.
