For my next grow im looking at using a 3gal smart pot or fabric pot under a 250w hps. Now I've found these on ebay sold by the same seller

is there any difference between them bar 1 is branded and 1 is generic, i emailed the seller and asked what the difference was, his reply was this;
"hello,

We have many products and unfortunately can not advise or recommend one product over another.

We recommend that you consult specialized forums in Internet where you are most likely to find the information you need and so know the product(s) you need to buy.

You can also see the difference between the products looking at the detailed descriptions we have in all our listings.

All our products are posted on our website www.servovendi.com

Kind regards,
Gilles"

so here i am guys, which to go for.?

I use root pouch pots. They are like a generic version of smart pots. They work great and can be picked up on eBay, amazon or at home depot. Highly recommended.

they are two different bags you won't really want the white ones.. but if your hell bent on buying smart pots buy AUROA they sell nice thick gray ones that stay stiff ... and they are 1/2 the price of smart pots...

im anti smart pots.. they leech massive amounts of humidity its like keeping a pile of wet soil in your grow room .. they leak water when you water them... the roots don't grow and wrap around in smart pots like they should they die off at the edges of the soil all around the pot.

I've heard good things about aurora innovations pots as well. I believe they are from roots organics company.
yep they are... they are freaking nice for the price... when i used to give them away to people who bought our soil i would buy 100 5 gallons for 200$ out the door at my local grow store.... thats a good dang deal.. 2$ 5 gallon smart pots... can't beat it..

I've had great success with fabric pots and air pots. You do have to water slowly because they will leak out the sides. One more thing. They dry out much faster and watering is required more. To me that's good cause sometimes a pot taking too long to dry out may risk root problems. Another positive (especially for noobs) is that its very hard to over water. Excess just drains out.

Through home depot's website ,or in-store, I get 10 root pouches for about $25. Its definitely a good deal. Plus mine have handles for easy transportation.

yep your absolutely right they dry faster 9/10 they require water every day as opposed to bi or tri-daily...

and ya know I'm not downing smart pots.. i used them successfully for years too.. BUT i grow in plastic buckets now.. i don't water DAILY... i never leak water on the floors.. My roots are freaking massive and wrap all around my grow container from top to bottom its a spider web of large roots all around the outside... and since i stopped using smart pots my humidity is easily 20% less the day of and day after watering.

but i also have a fairly large soil grow so all those smart pots in my rooms is just too much.. now if you have 3-5 plants smart pots probably wouldn't be as much of a headache as they are in large indoor grows.

Yep it dies raise my humidity up quite a bit. I guess its about personal preference. I currently have a grow wger in veg tent where autos are in 5 gallon nursery pots and photos are in 7 gallon fabric pots. Haven't seen anyone do a comparison grow of the two to compare results. That'd be interesting.

AGHH .. i did i had pics a year ago and my old mac took a crap on me it had YEARS worth of grow pics.. and i couldn't save any of them... the fabric pot was SLIGHTLY thiner... BUT it was taller than the bucket grow.... production rates were honestly less (not by any massive amount)

but it would make sense for the production to be a bit lower in a taller plant... because the plant uses more energy to transfer food longer distances.. as opposed to a short fat plant where that would use less energy to get food from the root to bud.. SO its really hard to say the weight difference was due to the pot.. but i do know they don't grow as wide.. and they have to be watered all the dang time.. plus you have to water slow like you said i used to spend 2-21/2 hours watering my smart pots i would have to do it so slowly.. now i spend 30 mins.. if that when i water

Here's a pic of a critical kush about 45 days old in 7 gallon root pouch with 40% super soil on bottom. This is my current grow. I plan to flip them Sunday when they'll be 60 days old. The other is an auto northern lights in a 2 gallon (actually 1.2 gallon) air pot. She yielded about 65 grams.
