is there a link for smart pots anywhere? I am thinking about using my horses water container, rubbermaid 100 gallons with either bc big bud or texada timewarp. I have another water container for the horse and the goats.

Thank you. I'm am excited to try them. The 200's I ordered didn't arrive yesterday as planned, bummer as I had 2 yards of a super mix I had custom made at a local compost yard and then dumped into my truck. I intended to only have to move the soil once! I can't get the truck to the site so moving 54CuFt of soil from truck to site by wheelbarrow is a bitch even if the mix is nice and light. I did pick up one 100 gallon while I was at the store and can fit comfortable inside it. Can't wait for the 200's hope there in today (fuc it's Saturday). Now that I see the 100 I know the 200's won't be too big at all. Maybe to deep at the edges. I'd like to go even a bit wider but don't need the height to go all the way out to the edge.
Maybe fill the pots have way up on the outer part with cheap stuff keeping the good stuff in the center and then the rest of the top gets all good stuff. Something like that. we'll see. Spring s here.

Don't do it. either grow in the ground or in a smart pot. That's what I think anyway. The black RM containers get very hot in the sun. It will work but it can cook the roots, stressing the plant.
Also you get root wrap which you don't get in the Smart Pot. It gets 100+ in the summer where I am.

True. But I would suggest only one plant per container. and I'd still go with a smart pot over a plastic container.

I grow on my patio. I use 10 gal. totes as containers. I KNOW that they can reach 14/16 feet in these. They need to be H2O replenished daily by mid August. So, 200 gallon?? Yeah, if your looking for some "Jack in the beanstalk" action, lol. Good luck & good grow.......BBI don't know about that. I wouldn't grow a 7'+ plant in a 14 Gallon container outside. That sound like a minimum size container. It will work but the plant will not yield the same and watering would be an issue too. I am looking for the size of diminishing returns. (not looking for Over-Kill)

Those 200 gallons are nice, I've been thinking about running them next year. Kinda like a pop up raised bed! 1 plant per seems kinda overkill. 2 per is what I was thinking about going with. I just can't imagine how big the plants would get with all that room to run.

I have been studying huge outdoor grows, this year is my first outdoor grow, but I will try some 200gal smart pots next season. You should read this thread at another forum....

It is wayyyy long, but worth it, I am on 24k dial up and it took me at least 1 hour per night for a week, but gooood info on 200-300 gal smart pots, giant plants etc.... the author is Tom Hill, one of the authors of the 3rd cannabible, and alot of the peeps on the thread have learned straight from him.....
p.s. I just saw with my own eyes a grow similar to these just above the Willamette Valley, so I know it is possible here now.....

I grow in 5 gallon pot and have 6-8 footers and average 1-2 lbs per plant every year. I grow mostly indica dominated and have a strict feeding schelude to go by. they are very full/bushy plants.they say bigger is better, but I don't believe that for one second, it's how they are care for and the strain itself. Most of mine this year was suppose to be short,stocky, and bushy, but the short part didn't materialize....not complaining though! wishing you very good luck with those big pots!

Very nice... Yeah I don't think I would ever go past 5 gallons personally
I need to see some pics of this ! 1-2 DRY in a 5 gallon ??!! I have a big grow this year and most every monster is in a monster pot. I did 15 gallon, 30s and 45s over the years as well. I use a lot of good nutes too. Pics please !

I started this thread wondering what size SP I should use and now I know 200 gallon SP work great and are no way overkill.
This picture was taken 8/8/10 and they are now coming into full flower. This is the tallest but not the lagest of the plants. I know it looks like my feet are below the bottom of the plant but their not. I am standing level with the base of the plant. My only worry now is the larger they are the easier they fall! A small storm came by the other day and thetened to toppel them. thankfully I only lost one branch that was the size of some peoples whole plant (6' branch). Now that they are putting on buds I will have to pray for good weather til early Oct. I just wanted to follow up on this question I had back in April. Thanks for all your input. Caz

damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Itll take u a year just to trim! no really though, how many times do u have to water? I wanted to see how fast the smart pots dry up, bought a 2 gallon, dumped some soil, soiless mix. bone dry in a day. My hydro store guy said strictly flood tables, wow was he farking wrong. cant wait to see some massive assive buds u get. again heyzus christ.

Thanks guys. I have some plants in raised beds too but the smart pot plants are doing great. In all fairness the soil in the SPs is an nicer blend too. I thought with a full cubic yard of soil (27CuFt) that watering wouldn't be a problem but with these 99 degree days and the size of the plant and root mass it needs water every other day or sometimes I might not be watering enough and it needs it each day. It depends on your soil mix too. Looser soil mix and your plant gets more air and grows fast and big but you need to water more often and support the plant better. A denser soil mix and it grows a bit slower and you don't need to water as often. Two plants I have I water once a week. The others I keep a close eye on and water as needed. I've seen them droopy and ran out and watered. I don't like to do that but I don't like to over water either. Not that I can over water then now. The water drains out the bottom. Gotta love that. I can't tell what's going on under the plants in the ground. It's going to be a sh!tload of work to trim up. But once it's all done.....
