smart bucket

I just figured I'd throw this out there, if outdoors I've generally put the yungin's in a hole in the ground when they're 6"-12" and make sure it's a good fit by adding potting soil. I know folks who use five gallin buckets outside I only do indoors, got 3-4 outdoors and one indoor under my belt. When I did my indoor I used your standard bucket with 1/2" drainage holes added in the bottom. As I added em to my tent as they got big enough for my 600 MH I kept reading the forum looking for tips and info when I came across the concept of smart pots. With just one to add at that point and not wanting to drill in the buckets with the baby's in em so as to not disturb the roots I figured I'd try something out with the last bucket. So what I did is, drainage holes in the bottom and then in four or five spots eveanly spaced (circumrance wise) I put horizontal rows of holes every couple inches giver take a half inch, so it had roughly 20-25 holes in the sides, added the dirt and the little adorable sweatheart purp kush toddler and did my thing. -The Results- The one with the added holes grew almost as tall as the sativa's had buds 30% larger and a higher number of buds, I could be mistaken but I think it ripened last as well (more time for resin production). Thus, if you use buckets try some holes in the sides and see if it benefits the ladies. It did for me but I only did it once with one so there are variables like genetics and placement in the tent that coulda caused it, something to try tho before you spend the money on the normal smart pots.
