smallest bucket size for dwc

Do you guys think I can get away with using 3 gal buckets instead of 5 in a dwc hydro op. I usually only grow from 3 to 4 feet in height due to restriction. I always have done dirt with 5 gal buckets. They take up so much floor space im thinking that without the dirt taking up the extra room in the bucket I can get away with 3 gal buckets thus getting a couple more plants under the light. And saving some dough on buckets. Any input would be greatly appriciated!

3 gal are fine as long as its one plant per bucket, thats what i do and it works great. just more buckets to maintain. also watch your water level it drops fast.

As Trunk5 said, it'll be fine.

I switched from a 5 gal bucket to a 3.5 gal bucket this grow and the only difference I saw between the two sizes is that the 3.5 gal holds less water, which means it's easier for the ph to get out of balance if you don't top off everyday.

I have a 6' tall sativa Thai plant finishing flowering in a 3.5 gallon bucket and it's full of roots. I use two airstones per bucket to ensure plenty of air.

thanks guys cant wait till I have the extra money to try the dwc...I was going to get in the other day but the nutes are EXPENSIVE! I wasn't expecting 100-200$ in nutes so i gotta save more do you guys put the plants bucket to bucket or space them out so they dont touch? I heard that if they are to close together than in can cause larger internode spacing or airy bud

get 5 gallon buckets and dig holes in the ground to give you more height
