Small Trial Led Garden

Im using some new high performance led boards hand made. Gotta see if this led shit works or not. using 5mm leds 6 blue to 1 red for veg and 6 blue to 1 red flwr. only using 4 watts for each board which puts out 1656 combined candela. with 3 boards. We'll see how it goes.

there's at least one other LED grow posted on here. heads up: flowering was the trouble area. Is there any info on what spectrum those lights are in? What color temperature? how many lumens?

Then information I have seen says a 3 red for each blue bulb mixture works best. VV

I copied the design off a friend of mine. the parts are availalbe at electric strores you just take a circuit board and the leds and resistors and put em together. the price to make each board is about 35 bucks.

the leds should be as close as possible to the growing plants. It is ok to touch the LEDs to the leaves.
Chlorophyll A absorption can be enhanced with 400-470nm, and 630-660nm wavelengths.
Chlorophyll B absorption can be enhanced with 400-470nm, and 615-635nm.
Fluorescents are good for raising seeds/seedlings because they put out these wavelengths 400-415nm, and 430-445nm, but they include almost NO RED LIGHT.
Mercury lamps are good for vegetative growth because they include these wavelengths 400-418nm, 430-440nm, but they include almost NO RED LIGHT.
The correct combination of light wavelength can give better results. Hope this gives you some info on led grows.

I made a design for something similar a while back albeit a lot bigger than what your using and the panel design is a great way to use leds i reckon.
I assume that you meant 6 red to 1 blue for flowering?
Building your own led boards is so cheap and easy and its great for people who have limited space,best of luck with it :blsmoke:

Also of note is that you should try to get the leds about 1-2" away from the tops of your plants :blsmoke:

Definitely cheap no heat and they dont blind you when your working on your garden. Saves space by not having to have a lot of intake and exhaust fans but good ventilation is key. We'll see how they go.

Good point i had to make it so you guys could see the plants so i lowered the plants off the raisers i have them on

Those are some nice bags of weed in your gallery,i hope you dont expect that kind of result from leds on their own?
Unless you have a couple of thousand leds you wont get a big yield.
I am going to use leds next year but only as complimentary lower bud and side lighting to my 2 fluro tubes and a 400 watt hps :blsmoke:

Thanks this will help alot. I too am going to make one of these, my only problem is i have to solder a resistor to each led, plus i havnt even started on how im going to make a power board for these

Im prepared for the worst but hoping for the best. Leds work well along side hps. Thats what i was using them for at first but i wanted to try just leds and see what happens.
