Small grow-space question. :]

Okay so I have one plant in a small grow space. I was wondering if I only vegged for a couple weeks before I moved to 12/12 if I could keep it small but still get bud. I'm not really going for quantity its kinda just an experiment. My grow space is 1 1/2 ft. X 1 1/2 ft. X about 3 ft. Tall. Thanks for any input :]]

That will definitely work. If I were in your situation, instead of just just flowering a single plant I would learn how to take clones, and separate your micro grow space into 2 different areas for vegging and flowering. This way you can harvest every week for as long as you want, and keep your experiment going. Of course you might have to veg the "mother" plant a few weeks longer in the beginning, but it's nice to eventually have a little bit of bud each week for as long as you want. I would hate to have to wait a few months for more bud after a successful "experiment".

Wow what an awesome response!
Thanks for giving me something to think about.. deffinently broadened my horizons a bit. What is the minimum size a plant could be and still produce?

I've seen some plants an inch tall have some sort of micro buds before, but it depends on the strain. Usually you can germinate a seed and flower it after the first signs of roots. Same goes for clones. I suggest reading as much as you can on here, I can guarantee your overall setup will change several times before you get up and going.

Seed plants will not flower until they are sexually mature, even if you start them on 12/12. Clones are different, since they will, in general, have been taken from an already mature plant, and so will be mature themselves.

My advice for the OP is to read up on training methods, especially if growing from seed. With your height restrictions, I recommend doing a scrog (screen of green, which is basically using a net to control height, and training the plant level with it to fill out your space without letting it get tall). There are other methods (LST, Topping/fimming, supercropping etc), but I find that scrogging gives the most consistent and predictable results.

I second the advice that budsicles gave about a second area for mother plants and clones. Clones are easier to work with, and when you find a good plant that you want to keep, you can just clone it an unlimited number of times, and never have to worry about sourcing seeds, or having the varied results that usually come with seeds. I'm not sure i'd recomend having weekly staggered harvests though, since it is a pain in the ass, but a second area for clones and veg will ensure that you always have something ready to flower as soon as you have harvested your current grow.

I know that for now you are just doing a small scale setup as an experiment, but trust me, your experiment will work out fine, and you will want to go bigger. :weed:
