Small apartment

I live in a high rise in Chicago with one room, kitchen, bathroom and living room.

I want to grow just ONE plant with natural sunlight. The temperature is quiet manageable, there is GREAT amount of sun coming in and my walls are white so they reflect a bit as well.

I would obviously want to keep it a short and small plant with maximum yield. I'm also not planning on making a fortune rather just grow my own and use it for my own enjoyment.

So, has anyone ever done something like this? I think the smell is going to be a bigger risk than the actual plant being seen by anyone.

What you would want to do is get some CFLS and some FEM seeds from a seedbank and make a grow box out of say a old computer case or a rubbermade tote, trying to do it in the window will result in a stretchy plant that would look horrible. A couple of plants arent gonna stink that bad, i have 5 going and dont smell them.

Grow box is a good idea, I just moved out of a apt. where I would grow also one plant at a time for personal use. I just hung some lights from my closet rod so that they could be moved up or down very easily. For the smell I used ona gel. I was also worried about the smell but it was never a problem with one plant for me.

I would sugeest a small closet as you Americans say.. I now grow in my roof space / attic but in my single ( Before wife/ball and chain ) days i purchased a meduim to small closet and gutted it to hang a 250w hps i grew 2 plants and the smell was non existent... Now you could get 5 lowryder seeds fem of course and grow 2 plants no worries mate.. You could of course get cfls if cost is an issue but plants will grow way better with hps.

Good luck mate.

If you aren't worried about anyone seeing the plant I would use the window but also add cfls and try an autoflowering dwarf like White Dwarf. You'll use 24/7 light with that so you'll need to do something about the bright light being visible at night.
