Small amount of mold during dry

This is my second summer growing and I'm realizing that mold will enviably be a factor. Is there anything you can spray on the buds themselves as they form and mature to combat/prevent it? BTW this will be my last summer growing, I can get enough September through April/May to just skip the summer in the future.
I agree, Botrytis is something that every cannabis grower will have to contend with at some point. Anyone that has been growing for a number of years has had to deal with it and if they say that they have never gotten bud mold, they are either lying and won't admit it or are they too careless to inspect their buds and don't even realize that they have it.

Ya this is something that should be discussed more until I started growing I had no idea we smoked so much mold and unless you are using a microscope or jewelry loupe you would never know most of the people I’ve encountered that are growing have moldy bud and are clueless you can only see it with the naked eye if it’s really bad and when you jar up the buds if one bud has mold it will spread to all of them I can usually smell a bud and tell also moldy weed always gives me a headache. I have seen a bunch of moldy weed at dispensary’s aswell so at this point I scope everything I smoke and scope any bigger bud before during and after harvest then again during drying and again before jarring then go through and scope the jars it’s foolish to think anything is clean without looking

Truth is we’re all breathing mold spores all the time. Most people are not affected, a few are. Aspergillis is an example of this. All over the place and harmless to most. Really damaging to a few. Not saying you should smoke bud with rot, but I know some of my outdoor harvest has spores (I cut away plenty of mold). I cut out the stuff I could see during and before harvest. Enjoying the rest. I know some ditch the whole plant when they see mold. But it’s everywhere.

Mold spores are not harmful but mold is. It creates toxins during growth that harms you. Smoking, extracting etc. doesn't remove it thus it gets ingested.
If there's visible mold on a few buds the rest is all moldy just not to the point where you see it. It's the same reason why you should toss the whole bread if you see a hint of mold.

online i have learned about aflatoxins..... alot of people say that mold produced by a improper dry / cure usually has aflatoxins.
aflatoxins can be deadly.
even if you turn your flower into bho and filter out the mold spores you will still be left with aflatoxins inside of your BHO.......
honestly i would just throw it all away.
your health is more important than getting stoned. hopefully you aren't selling any of this tainted weed to anyone.

i am that one person that eliminates entire plants if they have 1 spot of mold on them ./cry i dont use H202 i dont cut off infected buds and keep the rest i literally throw it all away. this year my outdoor plant that was 7 ft tall got some mold and i literally chucked it all in the trash.

Right, I don’t sell, and 95% of my stuff is indoor and comes from a carefully controlled environment in my home.

I’m really just speculating on the experience in the Northeast US this year. I literally know of no one who avoided mold issues with their outdoor grows. I also don’t know of anyone irl who eliminates entire plants due to a couple buds with mold. My assumption is most outdoor harvests this year (and most years) have some exposure to spores. Again, I grow my own in a tent. This is more a hypothetical discussion on my part.

I read the thread, its a good topic. What would you do? I keep hearing the loaf of bread saying but would you toss everything else in the kitchen and pantry over it?

I had such a bad moldy plant evidently from colas being packed too tight together, tent filled wall to wall, that it was the cause for it. Harvested a couple plants since then and got some confidence back that mold isnt as common indoors as out.

But inevitably I will get a moldy bud some day again and what would I do, now that I have a larger more commited grow? I would carefully monitor the rest if it really was a freak one spot event.

Like they say, usually thats just the surface of infection and it starts in several other areas at the same time so it is either one spot, or too many to where the rest have the mold smell.

I heard if plants are healthy as can be, they could be right next to infected plant and not mold, as well during dry but eventually can get infected but theres that. Its an important topic, even controversial.

Are your buds infected? Are you consuming more or less than the best products around? Are you giving it away however way, infected?

Should know these things but after my last harvest, not too affraid of it. But theres always that concern. I just found a moldy leaf on the ground, do I nuke the grow?
