Seriously though I found what I think was a Gnat in my garage two weeks ago and another today. I haven't seen anything inside the tent but I figured putting some of my spare perlite on top of my coco should deter them from turning my plants as breeding grounds.

fungus gnats ....i was at war with the little f*ckers for ages until my neighbour moved out and they cleared the rubbish, i grow mostly organic and the best thing i found was tabasco sauce diluted and sprayed on the tops of my pots, it starves them apparently.... wish i had known about the perlite thing dude doh !

Yeah, I'm not sure if perlite will stop them once they infest but it should hopefully deter them from calling my plants home.....hopefully!

So today I was planning on doing nothing in my tent but I saw a top that had blown out of the string I had used to tie it down so I pulled a few plants out to get to the escaped plant top but as I was moving and picking up the plants I noticed that they were very light even though I had watered the last two days in a row!

I tipped one of the buckets to see if water would come out of my drain hole and there was nothing. I then pulled them all out and they were are all light. So even though I watered recently I mixed up a batch of water and Remo's Nutrients to 830ppm (full strength) and watered again. It took ~700ml for each plant to get the level up to the drain holes.

Why are my plants using so much water? If this keeps up I will be watering twice a day! I don't want that at all, too much like work. lol.

My light is only running at 75%, my temperature is 22-26C lights on, 17C lights out, humidity is 35-55% lights on and 65% lights out.

Other than the excessive water usage, the plants are growing like weeds!

Hempys are awesome but basically need to be watered every day once the root ball gets big enough.

What size pots or buckets u using?
How high up the side did u pop the hole?
I've been using hempy for a while now and never had this problem.
Mine are good for 2-3days easily

Interesting
I'm using roughly the same size
Holes are approx the same height too
When u water or feed do u give it to them til it's shooting out the hole?
Yes I water until it comes out of the hole and then give it an additional 2 cups/500ml to displace the excess salts and old res water.

If I have to water every day do you think I can skip flushing my res every second watering? This would save me 5L every second watering? The run off was 340ppm today and I am feeding 830ppm but yesterday was a straight water feeding.

Very interesting
I water and feed pretty heavy but I've never had a pot be empty even after 2days.
Sometimes I go up north for long weekends and the pots still aren't light.

I'm probably the worst guy to ask bout flushing. I don't really believe in it tbh.
Between feedings I really don't think it's necessary especially if your res is empty and the pots are light.
Towards the end of flower I just taper the nutes back and give water the last few days to help push the fade and get them prepared for the chop.

Just goes to show how differently we all do things

The only thing I can think of is my big assed indica leaf's transpiring faster, thats just a guess though.

Thanks for the comments torontoke and GrowGorilla.
no need to thank me for commenting lol
U have me truly perplexed right now.
You've seen my journal I pack em in pretty tight and there's not much room for more leaf. Perhaps I should turn my light up a lil and get a lil more growth out of my cabinet.
Hmmm

Think I figured out the difference
I'm using 30-35% vermiculite and that stuff holds onto a lot of moisture.
Your coco probably isn't holding onto as much.
Best guess I came up with anyway.
If you added vermiculite, that's probably the reason you don't have to water for 3 or 4 days. I had my mix at 50/50 coco/Perlite and needed to water every day once the roots hit the bottom of the bucket. The bottom 3" I had straight Perlite as well.
