just sprinkle it on the slugs.. they will shrivel up and die.

You can also wrap a little copper around the stem, they won't cross the copper. Make sure that it is not too tight or that you loosen it periodically. Woodash sprinkled on the soil around the plant will also deter them but needs to be refreshed after watering or rain.
The salt works great, but I don't like putting that anywhere around my plants or soil.

There is a organic slug bait..it contains Iron Phosphate and works good..I had slugs during the rainy season in my greenhouse and used Garden Safe slug bait..all organic..and it killed them fast and its pet safe also...
The thing with salt is you have to put alot down in a circle around the plants and then when watered it seeps in the soil and salt is not to good for the plants...
Also they say coffee grinds work also some thing to due with the caffine ..I never tried it ....
also if you leave wet newspaper near the plants come dayliught lift it and your pests will be under it and then you can get rid if them or just sprinkle nslug bait under the wet newspaper
Or just bury some styrofoam bowls to soil level and fill with cheap beer or grape juice and they crawl in and drown

So i just went out. put some copper wire around stalks with busted up coffee powder around the base as well. I made a couple snail/slug traps and set them up.... i can see where they slugs were eating and there slime trails but didnt see a single slug.? kinda wierd. any way I hope that takes care of them for a while .. Oh and in my slug traps i put water sugar and yiest. heard thats what they like and i was outa beer lol...

Good luck man, but if you check out some of the other posts you'll see there are much better products then what's mentioned in this thread

yea i am going to do that next time i go out. Didnt have any beer left when i went out last or else i woulda made some beer traps. but instead i hope the starch/water/and sugar works fine

Hell yea, its a damn good reason to get some beer. I got some brava and some tall boys today. Hope they like cheep beer lol. And yes we do need an ALE emotionI'll third the beer.

The wire is the way to go, it's really all you need. However here in washington we have some exceptional slugs and I'd like to share a little about what ive seen. the first thing was this mob of slugs attcked a 3 foot tall plant. So many of them got on the plant that it actually fell over, they then proceeded to slime the plant to the ground so that they had shade to hide in under the plant so the didn't have to leave in the heat of the day, I wish I had pic's but that's no bullshit. I saw it with my own eyes.
That's when someone told me about the wire. I tried it and actually watched a slug crawl up to it and start to climb the stem as soon as the touched the wire it recoiled in horror and left after thoroughly inspecting it for weaknesses.
Now the crazy part is one slug actually figured out that if it climbed a nearby grass stem and got to the correct side of the stem he could pole vault onto the plant avoiding the wire all together. A little brush trimming solved that problem. Slugs love the weed and will go through remarkable efforts to get some and they are smarter than you might think. They are really slow and have 4 eyeballs they have to think about something now don't they?
