Skinny leaves?

Grow it and roll it!

Well-Known Member
Hey all, I'm just putting my plants into flowering after nearly 10 weeks of vegging, but I noticed that all of the new growth on one of my plants is very, very skinny/thin. For example, the leaves are the right length, and the color is fine, they are just really really skinny. I'll get a pic soon.. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

You probally just have a sativa dominant plant then...nothing to worry about...Indicas are more broader and fatter and sativas are usually long n skinny with more 'fingers'..Pics would help a lot easier

I have heard of where if the plants are too far from the light the leaves will be skinny and almost curly downward on the long edge. Are your plants close enough to the light. Should not be more than 2 foot away if it is a 250 or smaller it should be even closer.:blsmoke:

But then again that is just what i've heard

Well I'm going to be attempting to flower with cfls for space and cost reasons... But i'm keeping the plants as close to the lights as possible without burning them. I've finally got some pics to show you guys. The first couple are the skinny leaves that I'm talking about, and the rest are of my other plants. Let me kno what you think! And I think that everyone is right, the first plant is mostly sativa.

If anything I think it might be underwatered.. Because the other ones were underwatered also... Hopefully I'll be able to sex them pretty soon...

you definately have light issues. The problem on the first pic is from being passed the light and even a little on the second one toward the right of it. all of what is passed the light will eventually look like that. the other ones dont look so bad but they are too far from the light. put a box under them to get the tops within 3 to 4 inches since it is flourescent lights. the best thing you could do is get a lumatek digital 250 ballast. it will run mh and hps they are like $110 shipped from petstore dot com.then you could raise the light. and cover them all.

Thanks for the advice, that really makes sense. If I could re-do this grow I would do so many things differently.... O well, live and learn! Next time I'm gonna have a lot less plants in a space like this, and training will definately take place! I should have been LST-ing and topping from the beginning. :blsmoke:

F all that crap, if I you want to use a small space to grow do a scrog (short for screen of green). it will maximize a small space look it up on youtube. here is a good one YouTube - sensi super skunk scrog part 1. there are many parts to it and you may want to read the comments below the video, he kinda explains what he is doing week to week.
