I have run into "root bound" situations frequently. Not just with Cannabis, but with tomatoes, peppers, and other garden plants I have cultivated. I start cannabis plants in styro cups just to see if they are going to germinate correctly and start getting their game on. I sometimes put them into intermediate sized containers before putting them into 5 gal buckets for the finish. In the 5 gal containers I use I usually only put about 3+ gallons of soil. This has been enough for me to finish a 4 foot plant that can thrive for the entire 4+ months of its life. Looking at the various pics on this website, it would seem that many use smaller containers than I do. Perhaps they are doing hydro and the small size of the containers is not as big a factor. My experience is that containers of less than 3 gallons is going to leave you with root bound issues. But then again- What the hell do I know? I am just one small voice on a great big planet. I have grown cannabis for several years in a row with success. Maybe I'm just Lucky. Are you feeling Lucky- PUNK?????

I was doing 3 gallon pots, after the grow was chopped i noticed much room left in the pots & were talking 3.5 to 4ft bushes,i started thinking about pot size & read some shit where other growers were using small pots & getting fantastic yeilds.

I then started thinking about why hydro is so much faster than soil,i asked a serious hydro grower on this site & the main reason is oxygen delievery to the root system,i started using 1 gallon pots & watering every other day when they were small & every day once they could use that amount of water.

Increased growth rate all the way.

There is a grow posted somewhere on this site where the dude pulled off an oz per plant using lil red party cups.

Im gonna pull 3.5 ft monsters out of 1 gallon pots this time around & from the looks of it so far i'll shave a week or two off total time to completion.

My new adopted theory on pot size & root bound is that the root system only need be large enough to get the job done then after that its wasted floor space & soil,im placing much more emphasis on oxygen delievery over root mass this go round .

thnx 4 advice im using like 3 litre pot cuz only size i can get how can i get more oxyegen to it?
Stay with the small pots, its a bit more work because you have to water more but that is exactly what you want, the only weay to get oxygen to the roots is when you water, increased watering schedules will deliever fresh oxygen every time you water.

The more you water the more o2 those bad boys get.
