Site and light questions.

Hey guys I've been lurking around for a while reading and planning. Just got a couple of simple questions.

Anyone use discount-hydro.com before? I plan on getting most of it from high tech garden supply but this site has some things that interest me.

Also, I plan on using a 250W mh/hps light inside some sort of large cabinet that I have yet to find. I'm wondering how much heat these give off? Ventilation will be with a 6" inline fan with a carbon filter and variable speed controller, possibly a duct siliencer. Will this be enough to passivly cool the light? I was also considering haveing a small fan just blowing on the light. What do ya think. Oh ya, i'll be useing one of those stealth hydro bubbleponics kits that hold six plants.

You will want the inline fan as well as a fan blowing in the cabinet for ventilation. The plants are going to need a fresh air supply to breathe. The inline fan should blow from the outside of the cabinet to the light hood and back out the cabinet. You could maybe put a Y with a reducer on it to blow air into the cabinet. It's important that the air has a way out of the cabinet as well, because fresh air can't come in unless the old air can go out.

Ok maybe I need to explain a little more. My plan was to have the fan inline with carbon filter, sucking air through it then exhausting it out. I will have a passive intake. As far as the light goes, I'm just wondering if I'll be good not having anything blowing through the light, the reflector it comes with does not have an attachment. I am thinking that with a 250W light that it would not be necesary, just looking for a conformation of that.

I started out with a 250 HPS in a 2x3 cabinet. I had a passive intake AND no exaust. Didn't have a heat issue ... only an yield issue. ~lol~ If you use the fan with the carbon filter, you should be fine.

not to add a question onto a question thread, but realistically, how safe is it to be purchasing all of these grow op parts online?
Do a lot of you purchase your parts online? If so do you use like a money order or just a plain card?

Been considering that myself. Realistically I don't think its a problem. I'm in this place until may then I will be moving, so I'm going to buy most of everything now, that way I wont have to shipping anything to the new place.

Thanks for the help. At what point do you think extra cooling for the lights is needed? Could I use a 400W with this cooling setup?
