Simple, Cheap, and Effective Pest Deterrent

This is so simple it made my jaw drop, even though I've been using it after a fashion.

GARLIC!!! We all know about it, so I'm not going to detail all that here.

I had put a bunch of clones out for a spring harvest and hid them among the 17+5gallon buckets of garlic I had growing. I had zero problems with any sort of pests and I do mean zero in 9 weeks of flower.

Then, another old grower posted a pic that :o. He had simply planted a clove or 2 of garlic in the final container close to the edge.

That had never occured to me.:dunce: I made use of the garlic in the spring, but most of its growing season is way too cold for mj. The thing is, all you need is the green growth to repel bugs even if you don't get a mature bulb out of the deal. Just never thought to grow it out of season as a bug deterrent. DOH!!!!!!

What could be simpler or cheaper than sticking a clove or 2 of garlic in a container after the last transplant?

A helpful hint: Put the cloves you're going to plant in the fridge for a day or 2. The cold will trigger them to sprout.

i wonder if a few pots of garlic in an indoor grow would work. maybe put some by where the intake comes from, so the bugs dont fly around it

So wet have you tried it with other plants. I had a bad time earlier in the summer with Asiatic Garden Beetles. Eat my peppers, Basil, eggplant and fruit trees to nubs.

Yes and no. I mainly used the garlic to hide my spring crop. Garlic in 5 gal buckets and clones in 1 gal pots. I really wasn't thinking about pest deterrent and it was still too cold for the majority of my peppers and tomatoes and such, still seedlings. The little I did have out wasn't bothered, but it wasn't till after that I really noticed nothing had been chewed on.
