Idk how to get it to stop I top them and keep the cfl within 2 inches. All the pictures I have seen of the strain are tall and lengthy maybe I just have the wrong strand for a inside grow. I moved the tall one out and I'm resetting up my closet for the new plant I will post pictures later tonight.

Your running 1200w of cfl ? Dam

Ok I had a little look at a quote I got from "sunray" in china the other week

There new model lamp is a 500w induction light it used 2 x 250w lamps I had them quote me for a custom lamp that had 1 x 3000k and 1 x 5000k as I like to mix it up a bit

Anyway the quote with express shipping to the uk was ................. $327

That`s a fully working 500w induction lamp now 2 of them will kick the fuck out of 1200w of cfl but if your on a budget then I`d just grab a 600w hps and run it in a cool tube, I just find hps set ups far too orange but there`s no arguing the countless great grows the world has had due to hps.

I do used 2 clf`s in my flowering area as I find the 105w 2700k coil type cfl`s are very cheap put out good levels of IR and uv that I would have to spend extra on led units getting them spectrums added but when these cfl`s go I will replace them with compact induction lamps instead as all I`m after is a bit of white and uv and ir to fill in any gaps of coverage and spectrum seen as my main lights are just mixed red/blue led and a 200w 3000k induction on the side where I put the plants that have just been moved up to flower.

Yea the running temp on the 400w was like 140 degrees way to hot for my closet. I just want better quicker results this first plant has been growing since May and I have had every problem you could think of light leaks bad timer this plants been though hell and still looks supper healthy. But this is my first grow I lst the second plant it will have three colas and have two more clones going I will get it eventually. What your opinion on the led light boards they have on ebay just look like not enough light in my opinion.
First, heat problems are a function of the temp in the room more than the light. If you can keep the outer room temp to 75 or so, an hps will not raise it much. The closet is the problem. Why does it have to be in the closet? My heat problems disappeared when I realized I would never have anyone in the room who wouldn't know the plants were in the closet, so why keep them in the closet? I moved the plants out and have no problem with a 600w hps.

LED could work very well for you, however, LED costs a lot of money up front; you save on the electric and bulb costs in the longer run...but you pay up front and $100 really isn't enough to get you in the game. area51lighting.com for a 2 x 3 space for flower and Hans Panels - bonsaihero.com - for about 2 x 1.5 space There are others but those are excellent and that's about the price one has to pay to buy something good.
I'd be worried about the heat with HPS. Try T5HO lighting. You can get a fixture from Homedepot for $138 and it comes with OK veg tubes. You'll need to purchase flowering lamps when that time comes. You can get better fixtures but this reasonably well and lasts reasonably - I grew with a couple for a year or so...now I'm using LEDs.

For T5 grow remember these things:

1. control canopy top and keep fixture within 2 - 3 inches of the top of the canopy.
2. Keep plant height 3 foot or less.
3. Expect good flowers on what is directly under the fixture and maybe a few inches (2 - 4) to the sides but you basically you want to completely cover the plants with the fixture...which is why 4 tube width is really about as small as you want to go...2 foot maybe but 4 lamps to 8 lamps wide is best....fit your space.
4. You can play with PAR lighting with aquarium lamps if you so desire (flora suns, etc) and it will yield better results but is certainly not necessary.

If you want, you can continue using the CFLs that you have for sidelighting with the T5 fixture if you can't completely cover...but remember CFLs only work for a few inches. Additionally, if you save some money and go LED later, you might wish for some T5 side lighting or want to set up a separate veg and flower area so there will be continuing uses for the fixture.

..but e-bay LED fixtures, no matter how cheap, are typically not worth what they cost.
