shrewd shroms

you need spores present for shrooms to grow and its much easier to do yourself cleanly then to have to smell cow shit for a month and a half
 
I've thought of this before, and from what I know about the way they grow, I believe it would work...just maybe not as well as the grow-them-in-a-jar-method? As long as the mycelium is intact inside the shit, you should be good. Shrooms grow best between 80F-90F in a very humid environment. Every time you get a few to grow, make sure you flick them before you pick them, because you want to be sure to drop more spores so that they will keep growing.

In my experience, cow shit doesn't smell nearly as bad as human or dog shit...all they eat is grass and they do not have any stomach acids.

I've never bought shrooms; I just go to a field and pick them.

(BTW: I went on a spur-of-the-moment shroom hunt yesterday, ate about 15 of them, and had the most spiritual trip I've ever had...and then I had to ride my bike 11 miles to get home at midnight, 6 hours after ingesting them.)

That was just the question i was asking, "do other(bad) mushrooms grow on cow manure?" I just want to get this strait that only shrooms grow on cow manure, so when i go to pic i wont ,you know, die...
Do you varify this fact?
 
I cannot verify that for sure, but here in FL at least, I've never seen anything other than psychedelic mushrooms growing on shit. And the other ones (the inedible ones) look totally different - sometimes flat orange fungi, or completely white with white gills = BAD!

Animals with multiple-chambered stomachs (cows, horses) can eat grass and mushrooms (therefore eating the spores) without the spores being destroyed by stomach acids. So when they poop, the spores are still intact and surrounded by a good fertilizer (the poop) to grow in...thats why they tend to grow in cow shit, even though the cow shit is not mandatory.

Oh, and if you do this, be careful when removing the shit and the shrooms from the field. Watch out for Fish and Wildlife control people, make sure you flick the caps (to drop more spores) before you pick them, try to make a clean break on the stem (snip them, don't just rip them out of the ground), and let me know how it goes. I've thought of doing this a bunch of times, and it sounds like it would work, so I'd like to know how it works out for you.

yeah, i plan to go picking soon. There is a cow pasture about 500 yards from were i live. But now is the "off season" were the cows are no longer on the fields because they have most likely been slaughtered, so i wait for them to return. But when they come back, i'll be sure to pick and i'll be sure to post my findings. In fact i'll likely post some images to varify the correct strain of shroom.
 
Yeah, it can be pretty difficult to find the right shrooms in other states - I guess I'm just lucky to live in FL and know what the right mushrooms look like, so if it's your first time going, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THE RIGHT ONES LOOK LIKE. Once you know what you're looking for, it becomes easy to differentiate the good from the bad.

I don't know if psychoactive mushrooms grow in every state (just because there's a cow field doesn't mean there are shrooms), so your best bet may be growing indoors in a mason jar. It's supposedly really easy, and you can get a pretty good, consistent yield.
