Show Me What You Got LST?

I got a quick question (I hope its quick) about LSTing. I get the concept, and how to do it. But what exactly is it doing? On all of these massive plants in this thread it appears each plant was topped or FIMed with multiple Colas, or are those just the smaller branches that become a bigger Cola due to the better lighting?

There's a bunch of threads on LSTing, but there all the same and none of them really go into that much detail I dont feel

it helps to get a more even canopy and yes the side branches do grow up and become colas

I may be out of my element here as I have only been at this for a few years. I like to think of my plant like an Italian mob family. LST represents the politics of a mob family. You have your top cola (da boss) then you have all those side branches (the soldiers) All the soldiers want to be the boss. As soon as you take the boss down a rung (tie the main stem over) the soldiers see an oppurtunity and they try to become the boss. Before you know it, you have all these wanna be bosses. I think the science behind it has something to do with the main stem being pulled lower then the side stems, which tricks the plant into thinking the side stems are now main stems. I don't know if this helps and I'm sure someone has a better explanation. The real beauty of it is, there's really no right or wrong way. You can bend the plant anyway she'll go, I've even seen a plant tied in a knot.

15-20 minutes? is that all? Are you saying more than that is weird?
Thats just the time I spend looking into their eyes aimlessly. If I could, I would move into that grow box with them. I even have weird emotions on chop down day.

Chopdown day is when the fun begins. Its grinding up the last little nug and putting in my bowl thats painful.. I havent had my first chopdown yet, though, so we shall see. 3 weeks into flower and its like watching paint dry.

Thanks Tragik and Min, that analogy helps out a lot. It just looks like people top their plants when they LST good and have like 4-8 colas. I plan on doing this to my two babes once they reach that point.

These are my femmes 23 days into flower cycle.
The taller one has popcorn buds all over place, while the shorter one is sprouting pistils from all the grow sites.
I wish they would hurry up and finish budding, harvest and cure themselves, and stuff themselves into my bowl.
