Show Me What You Got LST?

4 strains. Started them 80 days ago. 45 days into 12/12. Used to ghetto grow under T12's and bagseed for a year or two but this is my first grow after 5 years off. LST use in the past was minimal and mostly to control height during stretch. As you can see, my LST is far from minimal this time.

Strains:
Kannabia La Blanca
Kannabia Afroditie
Nirvana Wonder Woman
DNA Rocklock

Soil:
FFOF with 20% added perlite

Nutes:
Blue Mountain Organics 4 part system.

Lighting:
T5 and CFL Approx 8500 Lumens per sq. ft.

First up is the Wonder woman. Nice looking plant with lot's of crystals. Smell on this one is a strong blueberry aroma with a hint of skunk at the end.

Next is the Kannabia La Blanca. Biggest buds of all the plants. Initial smell is a nasty, musty, cat piss smell. But after gently rubbing it, the aroma changes to a blueberry stronger than the Wonder Woman but sweeter and without the skunk.

Here is the Kannabia Afrodite. As you can see, I've been relentlessly clipping at this one for over a week. Yeah I know, but when you're out of smoke and have nowhere else to get it, you do what you have to. I'll have plenty to get me by... Even though I've clipped it, the undergrowth is quick to fill back in and still should give me a little smoke. I've decided to take a tolerance break so I shouldn't be clipping TOO much more on this one. Classic skunk aroma here. High is obviously cerebral but is still couchlocky and will put you to sleep if you do more than a few rips.

Finally the Rocklock. They say this is an indica domanant 8 week strain. This thing looks pretty sativa if you ask me. A real leafy sumbitch. Also, 8 weeks my ass. This is going to be more like 11 weeks. Especially since I shoot for lot's of amber trichs on my plants. Should produce well though. Smell is lemony, pineapple with a very subtle pine tree smell mixed in. Very exotic smelling and depsite the evergreen tinge, reminds me of the tropics.

How is my girl looking? I was wondering if I should start to stake or tie her side branches yet, or if I need to let them start growing upwards first? I'm trying to figure out a way to spread her out a little so I can get an even canopy......

So this is my girl she is grown in a dwc/bubbleponics system. vegged for 3 weeks lots of lst. started flower to sex 10 days ago. she is under a 19x19 screen. its about 5 inches above the top of the hydro setup. I am wondering if I should return her to veg for a bit or if she will fill up the screen if i keep her in flower. I used pipe cleaners and cup hooks to train her and removed them when i put her under the screen today. I guess im just curious as to whether or not to keep her vegging until she fills up the screen better or if people think she will fill it up as she flowers.View attachment 1518678View attachment 1518677View attachment 1518679View attachment 1518680View attachment 1518681

I would fill that screen up for sure!! looks good!! Almost looks like you could push your nutes a little further.. but other than that great job...(could just be the lighting in the pic too)

i would try toppin the very top shoot, to increase the the rate of growth of the lower growth to level it out
Won't topping slow overall growth? (I'd like to have her well into flowering by mid-may)

And I had a friend tell me that if I veg for 2 more weeks it will increase my yield 3-5x....... Will only 2 more weeks of veg make that much of a difference?....would I have room for that much more growth?

And could I clip a few of the fan leaves that are covering most of the lower growth?

Heres pics from today:

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I dont mess up now... Ive made it this far :D

You would be amazed how much an extra 2 weeks of veg can give you..... Say you have a plant that always stretches 2x her height in flowering, now double that height at say 10" and you get a 20" plant. Now add 2 weeks of veg, that 10" plant becomes an 18" plant, then you double it in flower equaling a 3ft tall plant. So for every inch extra in veg you grow that plant, you are gonna gain roughly 2" when it flowers. Now imagine if you have a strain that triples in flower.... hopefully you get the point.

If you top, you are slowing down growth at that node, allowing the other nodes to catch up to promote an evener canopy.

Also I as well as many others, OP included, would say not to trim ANY fan leaves. If the plant doesnt need the leaf, she will dispose of it on her own. Try bending it or tucking it out of the way. (Visions of Einhorn) lol

My grow space is only 14"w x 14"d x 28" h...... How much longer should I veg? And should I ever untie her for a couple of days to let her kinda stretch? Also, I am considering flushing her.... I'm scared that I will kill her though. :S

Keep her tied down all the way through flower, keep tying down new growth as you veg, making the plant grow horizontally instead of vertical, then when you are satisfied with the number of tops you have, I would flip the switch. You have a limited grow space, so I would try to keep her as low and even as possible since you dont know how much she is going to stretch in flower.

How can I tell what will be a top?

So every place that has new growth coming out (like at what would be the top of the plant if it were standing) will be a top right?

Like this?

Wow I'm so glad to see this thread is still going after reading 89 pages I feel like I know some of u guys but I couldn't read any further without asking a question. I started my lst prior to reading the thread otherwise I would have did alot of things different but oh well... My question is what do I do with all this crap I have in the dirt or a tone of underneath growth that will never produce anything worth while. Is ok to just do what I would consider alot of pruning, lollipoping etc? Or could too much cause too much stress on my plants? I'm in my 2nd week of 12/12 and I'm worried I won't get my full results with all the trash on the bottom. Help me out please I know u guys got all the answers...

i would just leave them since you are 2 weeks into flower, popcorn nugs and lower growth are great heads stash or use full for butter or hash, i personally dont mind lower growth that doesn't get huge cuz it is just extra to me, next time though if you like i would suggest maybe taking off the smallest lower branches and try to leave as much leaf as you can.

Thanks mcp but won't this ultimately take away from max yield?

no not really just cuz theri is lower growth should not mean it wont produce as well.

I, me and myself am just against any remove of anything unless it is a tiny branch or even a few tiny ones

Ok I get you I guess I'll leave it all there and aim at getting better next time... My first grow I averaged 1oz per plant (no lst) I'm really hoping to double that this time around even tho my lst job is 1 of the sloppiest I've seen of the 89 pgs I've reviewed

you get better as time goes on, and i am sure lst will increase yield for you, i know it did for dramatically
