so iv been reading so many posts about cfl lights been great followed by other ppl saying HIDs are better, then i read that hids are not in the right spectrum and we all know about mh for veg and hps for flowering,,, then i read about ppl saying cfls have more of a spectrum and so on... (not to mention penetration and other variables) im interested to see what u growers think ...... 4 x 200watt 6400k cfls vs 2 x 400watt hps lights.. im using the 400watt as a limit. from clone to harvest. i have a feeling the HIDs will take it... lets see.. get voting

nice.... so as i thought HIDs take the win... so in the long run,, even if u match the watts the hids 55000 lumens even if its not in the perfect spectrums still works out more efficient...

CFLs will never compete with HIDs when it comes to penetration, ever. You can match watts and lumens (which would take a heck of a lot of CFLs!), but you'll never get the penetration you will with HIDs.

6400k's are for vegging mainly and a hps is for flowering mainly so your poll does not make any sense to me... sorry...

From my experience, you'll definitely get a higher yield with hps. HPS is much more efficient, so you'll get a helluvalot more lumens from hps as you would from the same wattage of cfls. However, and this is from my experience alone, the more natural spectrum of cfls usually gives me noticeably frostier buds with higher thc content. I suggest using the hps with a few 6400k cfls for side lighting, which will help correct the funky yellow red spectrum of hps lights, and provide a bit of supplemental light to boot. Just my 2 cents :)
