Both of my boy cats would/will munch down a fan leaf in a heartbeat. No affect that I can percieve. The girl wont touch it even though she's very into barley grass. Everybody stays away from buds. Thankfully.

He most definitely knows the difference between tobacco/pot.
He doesn't like the tobacco but won't leave me alone when smoking a bowl.

After you own a dog for a few years you may get to know just how smart they are.

Maybe labs have something in their gene pool. My back door neighbor growing up had 2 chocolate labs that had to be put down bc they ate decorative rocks. Could just be a coincidence though.

I've also had/have pets who gravitate towards and run from pot smoke. Just because some 'appear' to want to be around me when I'm smoking a joint, imo that doesn't mean I should deliver it to them. If I delivered my dog two pounds of butter, he'd nail it. My cats would inhale a gallon of dairy milk if I let them. Neither scenario is good for the pets.
The notion that you should deliver blow-back into the ear canal or snout of an animal (unless it's terminally ill, I guess) sounds pretty irresponsible to me.

it has been proven that dogs see in super slo motion. They see things @ more frames per second than we do. Therefore they pick up on microexpressions on our face, making it seem like they have a sixth sense when in reality they are just picking up on our "tells" which we don't even know we are giving. There was a very interesting show on animal planet recently and it went through all of this. I believe it was called
"all about dogs" or something like that.

I call bullshit on dogs not metabolizing thc the same as other mammals, and also on 2 dogs dieing from marijuana overdose. As far as I know they have never induced a toxic dose of marijuana on any mammal and they have tried plenty of times. I'm about to go try on myself.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like there is far greater risk of your animal dying or being psychologically damaged from being spayed/neutered than from blowing cannabis smoke in their ear.

No, not everything in moderation. As a responsible care-giver, there are some things you should simply not be offering to your animal. I'm not saying I know for sure that cannabis is one of them, I'm just dismissing 'everything in moderation' as nonsense.
Further, you may not be too 'stoopid' to interpret your pet's likes and dislikes, but that doesn't mean you should give it something you know it likes irrespective of the potential hazard. If there is potential for your dog to choke on the size of the pigs' ears you feed it, you don't need to stop feeding it pigs' ears, instead maybe think about chopping them up into manageable pieces before giving them to your dog. Yeah, I'm way crazy.

Who the fuck is 'they'? There have been plenty of cases of pets getting sick and dying from ingesting cannabis and how they metabolize it is a medical fact, not just some pothead's opinion. As far as for sick dogs, like my American Bulldog who is dying of cancer, some vet who are not biased against cannabis would actually recommend glycerin cannabis tincture instead of smoke or vape because it is easier to administer (just a drop on the tongue). But pretty expensive unless you can make it yourself. And it does help - increases appetite, better mood and more active. When I don't vape mine he just lays around all day and doesn't eat...

Sorry no, I do not know why you give pigs' ears to dogs. I don't own a large breed of dog, but mine gets dental chew toys. My bad. Still, if you give your animal something with potential hazards, no matter how harmless you might think it is, and your animal is harmed as a result, it's wholly your responsibility. Knowing that, I try not to expose my pets to harmful substances, but obviously some things are out of your control.

I complained to you about the boulder size mountains your dogs will crap out once and if you used a bobcat to move em.......but I realized something the other day while wiping crap off my shoe.. It's not the shit you see... that gets you.. it's the one you don't see.. My Gretchen craps out what appears to marble sized turds.. that fall into the grass and disappear till walked on.

I don't know if dispensing cannabis to a pet is harmful, so I choose to err on the side of caution. Is it fair to assume you don't think there is anything harmful whatsoever about 'mary jane'?
Of sound mind, I try to evaluate all the substances I consume. Some I know can be lethal, some I know are healthy, some are legal, some aren't. My pets, irrespective of how I perceive their enjoyment, aren't capable of evaluating some of the things they consume, and the effects those products have on them.
I'm quite certain, though, that it takes a genuine moron to suggest blowing smoke into a pet's face is sensible unless the pet is desperately ill, or terminal. I smoke knowing it's fucking stupid, but unfortunately I love it. My pets aren't aware of the risks involved, but since I am, I don't do it around them. It's one thing to pollute yourself, which everyone is free to do without judgement, but it's another to wilfully pollute a pet in your care. Others here have mentioned administering cannabis products to a pet through vapor, medibles, and oils. I'm happy to listen to arguments in favour of those methods, because there aren't any carcinogens involved, although I would still take a lot of convincing.
