I've not used LED's (yet) for growing. They make GREAT flashlights though! lol! My understanding of them is that the technology is evolving rapidly, but it's not quite there yet for us growers. There are specialized LED setups for growing, but the really good ones are VERY expensive. They also don't penetrate like HID lighting. With any type of lighting that doesn't penetrate, you need to have it REALLY close to your plants in order for them to gain any benefit. Then you need to consider spectrum; is the spectrum going to be correct for growing? LED's only give off very specific wavelengths of light, unlike HID and Fluoro which may be richer in reds or blues, but give off other wavelengths as well. Happy Growing my friend!
