Should I veg longer or start flowering? Pics

Yeah, sometime I use 6 litre. Slowly is the key with cloth pots, water with 1-2 ltr give it a few min to soak through and do it again, repeat until you have good run off.
Gotcha. Sounds easy enough. Thanks. Water is same temp as garage. Should I chill it?

A few things you can look for to be sure it's time to water is obviously the weight of the pot. Lifting the pot will tell you if it's still holding water or not. 5 gallons of water soaked soil weighs a good bit compared to when it's dried out. I also look to see if the soil is pulling away from the sides of the pot. When soil gets nice and dry it seems to shrink and you'll see a bit of space between the soil and pot. Lastly which is the method I've used for years. Let's say I water on a Monday for example. I'll watch my plants super close for first signs of wilting. If I notice them starting to wilt on Thursday night, then I know every 4th morning I need to water. Let the plants tell you when their thirsty. Sticking your finger in the soil can be tricky if the bottom of or core of your soil still has lots of moisture. I suggest you start lifting your pots to check weight or do like I mentioned above and get it really dialed in.

Again GL
What are the first signs of wilting that I should look for? Doesn’t over and underwatered look kinda the same?

It would have more dissolved oxygen at lower temp. Plant would be able to absorb nutrients better.
If you can chill it or chill part of it and mix it together easy then it can only be a good thing.
20 degrees C is about right. Sounds like your pushing close to 30c

At first they kinda do. I mean at very first. But when a plant is wilting from lack of water it goes completely limp and the leafs will literally look lifeless and deflated from lack of water. Think of a balloon full of air/helium. When it's got air it's perky and flying high. As soon as the helium starts running out it starts to sag .....once it's out of air it's just an empty ballon hanging there limp and lifeless.

Over watered plants just look lazy like yours above. Basically like there just so full of water their sagging from the weight.

I'll see if I have my pics I used to help other people. I let my plants wilt and took pics. Then I watered them and took pics 15 minutes later. Couldn't even tell they were ever wilted. Underwatered/wilted plants look terrible....even worse than an overwatered plant visually. They look like their dying completely limp....but they bounce back in literally minutes right before your eyes.

So I have the watering issue addressed but what about those taco leaves? Is that heat stress or overwatering? And if it’s heat stress that will likely be there throughout the entire grow, would it be detrimental?

Just watched a time elapsed video of it coming back to life in like 30 mins. Pretty cool and yes, much easier to deal with than overwatered.

Oh perfect I had no idea there were videos of it. My mentor taught me that when I was young and constantly overwatering my plants and loving them to death. I'm always amazed how fast they bounce back into action without fail. Well at least you know what your looking for now. I'd use that info and put it to use in your Grow. I do it every Grow to get my watering schedule down.

Thanks man. Now if I could deal with this heat issue I’d be set. This is the room it’s in. Kinda separated from the rest of garage but could use a door I guess. My hack brother in law was contracted by the wife to build a wall. I guess I could finish it and insulate on the other side. Maybe that would help?

Detrimental yes, life threatening no.
Your plants are not bad to be honest.
Seen far far worse by far more experienced growers.

Remember overwatering is mostly a lack of o2 at the roots, just changing your water temp down several degrees and improving your watering practices will make a huge difference to the overall health which will mean they tolerate the higher temps your having better.

You can only change what you can change. No point stressing over what you can not.

Thanks man. Trust me, if I knew better when I bought this stuff I wouldn’t be where I am right now. Learned a lot from some dudes here at RIU. Especially you, indacouch and John Dee. Everybody else is pretty cool too. Well, there’s one roadblock in the way. The wife lol. Might just have to fix up the garage and make the section with the tent liveable. Inside might never be an option. Even when it’s legal.

I like the idea actually. Even if it does bump the humidity a little since I planned on getting a dehumidifier. Well maybe I just can’t grow in summer. Maybe if I grow in fall and spring and early winter. I’m in NY so winter will have its own set of problems.
Understandable. I can't grow in summer here in Tucson. It's either indoors or outdoor winter crops. Neither plants nor man can take these 100+ temps. In fact I won't even go outdoors from 11 to 6pm.

So you have to deal low humidity out there? And high temps? Does it work out skipping a season like that? You still have bud that whole time and it doesn’t get moldy or anything? I’ll gladly skip summer though. Always has been my least favorite season and now I really hate it. Anyway I have a seedling started and maybe can veg for like a month and a half or 2 with some serious lst and make it to middle of September and then start flowering. I’ll figure it out.

I have a medical card and thankfully the product isn't too bad although it pales in comparison to mine.
Storage is no problem. Fridge is mid 50s rh and it continues to cure for a long while. Leave it out and it'll dry up overnight. Fuckin desert.

Hey PuffinPine,
I see you're making progress. Plant is really green. Now I understand why so many peeps burn their plants by adding nutrients on top of FFOF.

I wanted to throw out an idea...not a perfect solution but it has merits. If you decide it would be better to wait till Sep. then you could use this time to do some training. Depending on how tall it gets...you could consider super-cropping. Maybe during flowering it may be cool enough to add another light too. Just a thought.

After this grow and to avoid this situation again, you could keep a clone momma inside. And then just grow when temperature allows it.

Also I think you should go swimming, go to an outdoor rock concert or some other summertime activity. Restore summer for enjoyment...like it should be.

Well I got the second blurp up. So 240 actual. Hopefully that will be enough light. Next grow I’m going to have better lights and a bigger tent. I haven’t added any nutes yet. Kinda scared to add any more problems to the mix. Did some lst and I added a homemade scrog yesterday out of a small soccer net. Holes are 4x4. Already have some new tops growing. It has crossed stipules and the calyx looks female so far. We will see I guess. Have never checked the ph but I’m using distilled. Hopefully that’s not a problem. Still haven’t watered again yet and it’s been about 3 days. Got the idea to add some damp rid instead of heat producing dehumidifier.

Btw just went to see imagine dragons. Didn’t want to but I did go to a semi-rock concert hehe. Had to sit out in 90 degrees watching a crap band on a tv. First and last concert. I’m a glass half empty kinda guy lmao.

Oh and I learned that until I get the garage liveable then late summer into fall is really the only time I can grow. Spring into summer will start to get too hot for flowering and we have freezing cold temps right up until April. If I can grow a few ounces from one plant that will be 3 months worth of bud. Still making out good in the deal I think.

My last concert was couple of decades ago in northern Minnesota. Moondance Jam...a huge outdoor event with Joan Jett, Joe Cocker Eddie Van Halen and a bunch of other performers. I got a free ticket. I loved Joe Cocker's performance...that dude could sing. But mostly it seemed like an excuse for people to get drunk in public. Oh well.

Carry on with your grow. You're doing great for a newbie. When you're an experienced grower...you will look back at this with some amusement.
Cheers,
JD

Thanks a lot. I realized how inconsiderate people really are in public. Go to the bathroom and come back trying to zig zag through all the assholes. I smelled weed the whole time but I couldn’t smoke. So many little kids with clouds of weed smoke coming over them lol. I will enjoy next summer when it will hopefully be legal here. I will be starting another seedling here soon to set up for fall. I can’t diy for crap so I was looking at a 150 or 200 watt timber ( as they look to be plug and play) and a 6ft tall tent. That should be a couple steps up.

I have a similar setup and run a dehumidifier outside of the tent which is in my rarely used dining room (after moving downstairs from a spare bedroom which got way too hot). I never have any over watering issues and generally use the weight of the pot to help determine whether I should water or wait. It’s been working out pretty well.

One thing I would recommend is if you are concerned about space in the tent, then you should bite the bullet and flower. I waited a bit too long with multiple plants in veg and just didn’t have the space for all of them. Had to give a few away and left 3 in there which is still too much. Luckily after pruning and LST it made a big difference, but a bigger tent for flower is definitely not a bad investment.
