Hello

The current plant I have is 5 and a half weeks old in roughly a 1 gallon pot. I am going to initiate flowering in about three or four days and I was wondering if Its ok to transplant this close to flower? Will the transplant shock hurt the plant too much? I was thinking about transplanting into a 5 gallon bucket that I have. Im using Fox Farm Ocean Forest for soil and I already drilled holes in the bucket for drainage. Also, to initiate flowering, should I give it one day of complete darkness then switch to 12/12? If anybody has advice on this I'd greatly appreciate your input.

Don't need a dark period. Transplant it, with some fresh FFOF soil you dont need to add any nutrients for awhile. IMO you can flip the light cycle anytime you want too. If I was doing it though, I'd probably at least give it a couple days after the transplant just because. The more careful you are with the transplant, the less likely it will show much of any shock.

Thanks for the quick reply. Right now im growing under CFL's.. right now i have 4 26 W CFLs 2 13 W CFL and a LED. All lights are 6500 K with the LED being 2700K. THe 13 W and LED are side lights while the 26's are all top lights. So your saying transplant into the 5 gallon bucket and then give it about 3 days or so then start flowering?

Sure, why not. You could probably flip them at the same time if you want to. I'd probably let it settle itself a few days. I doubt if it makes much difference.

imo, ocean forest has a lot of veg food in it. i would give it a very mild does of what ever your using for flower food when you flip it to 12/12. Just be careful not to over do it being that like cob said, ocean has some fertilizer already in it.
