I ended up doing two cycles with rockwool. I used r/o water and lemon juice as a ph down for the pre soak. I used clonex gel and jellyfish micorhize (sp?) on both cycles. As well on both cycles I left the domes on for 5-6 days straight without airing them out or spraying the dome, slowly opening the vents or removing the domes completely after that. The first time I over watered them and got a success rate of 50 out of 300. I sprayed just the domes and not the cuttings. I left the domes on as long as I could, but I ended up losing a ton of the cuttings to mold and most didnt root and rotted away. The second cycle I used half r/o half tap water with the same gel and beneficials. I shook the r/w almost dry but barely moist to the touch. This time I didnt get rot, but the mold problem was still present. I ended up removing the domes when I saw a bunch of babies had the white film from root growth growing just above the r/w. When the r/w felt dry, we fed them 2 tsp. per gal. GH rapid start in r/o water at a 6.0 ph level. After I hit them with that, alot of them started to die off. I ended up only getting about 10 out of 350 to root. I had enough with the rockwool and decided to try root riot plugs. I am using the same clonex and jellyfish beneficials. What my biggest question is, did I mess up by not removing the domes for fresh air daily? And when I spray the domes, should I also lightly mist the plants as long as I do not mist the medium? I was possibly thinking about hitting them with a foliar spray of rapid start after day 6 or 7 since I heard these cubes do not dry out as fast. Also, I am not using a heating mat, the room we use is running a space heater at certain times of the day. Its well insulated so the temps stay at a constant 78-81. Help would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to risk causing a mold problem by spraying the cuttings directly, but I am going to start removing the domes 4-5 times a day for a breath of fresh air unless that is too much. Thanks for the help my rollitup amigos!
