Should I SCROG or not?

I have not really found any good advice on "when" to scrog. More specifically what the trade-offs are.

I have a 4x4x6'7" grow tent with a 600w HPS bulb and am starting to plan my flower stage (4-6 weeks out) .

I was told by a guy at a hydroponics store that I should scrog because I would get a higher yield. Also, he told me that three plants would probably fill the whole tent.

If I dont Scrog I could probably put 9 single plants in the tent. Though it would be difficult to do maintenance on all the buckets. I can only access the tent from one side so 6 is a more likely number of plants.

Which method would have a higher yield? What are some of the trade offs I should be thinking about?

The problem with not scrogging (is that a word?) is that the tent is only 6'7" high, I am growing northern lights, bug bud and some bag seed. Given a 2' clearance for lights that give me a 4'6" max plant size.

The NL and BB are both all females the bag seed I would clone for sex before scrogging.

Hopefully scrogging is not a religous argument :)

Forgot to mention that I doing a DWC with each plant in its own bucket.

Not really receiving any answers, I decided to do more reading to see if I can solve the question. Here are my findings so far.

SOG:
++Highest Yield / sq ft
+Continuous Grow
+Plants can be moved around
-More nutrients
-More water
--More Light
--LOTS OF PLANTS!! (100+)

SCROG:
+Increased Yield
+Big Colas
-Long Veg
-people say its difficult for an early grower
--Mold ??
-Plants cant be moved once in the screen

LST:
+Increased Yield
+Plants can be moved around
-Long Veg

Regular:
+Simple
+Continuous Yield Possible (but slow)
-Lower Yield

Regular means 1.5 sq ft per plant, veg cycle length of a few weeks (24" veg height target) and a full flower cycle.

instead of scrog why not just try a combination of topping, supercropping, lst, and lollipopping,,
a lil bit more work but u culd acheive the same if not better results..

I have a concern about height. I have a secret jardin dr120 grow tent with an interior height of 6'7.

The light in the tent is a 600 watt HPS. It hangs about 12" from the roof of the tent, call it 12" off the floor for the bucket and 1.5' from the light for the plant tops. That leaves a max safe plant height of about 4'5".

I am considering lst with topping to keep the height down as well. I see that as functionally equivalent to a scrog without the screen.

hmm, i see ur point. well a scrog imo is just a easier way to lst, but yah it shuld keep your plants height down enough, i suggested lollipopping cuz the lower branches wuldnt be getting much light becus of the flat canopy

I wouldn't suggest scrogging, I had a friend do it for three grows and he actually yielded less then without doing it and they are hard to keep maintained when you can't get to the back side . Lsting is the way to go to control height of multiple strains because you will have some strains that will grow taller and will need more training than others. Besides once you scrog your plants you won't be able to rearrange them or really move them till they are done.

I added LST as an option, I did not consider the immovable aspect of the SCROG, thanks.
