Should I keep it growing?

20180225_121540.jpg 20180225_121524.jpgSorry if this is in the wrong place, this is my first post and there are so many site forums!! So please be gentle with me.
I am having a crack at growing again, after about 20 odd years. I was in a hurry to get this one going hard and fast. The thing is, its about 3 weeks old, it had gotten burnt pretty badly from our hot Aussie sun a couple of weeks ago and I caught a bloody chicken having a go at it too! So it's already copped a flogging. In the past 3 to 5 days the new growth has been more and more clear that it's on the mend. The seed was a good 3 or 4 years old prior to planting. I have bought some bubble bomb seeds online (I can't believe they I actually got them here to Australia!), which another frigging chicken ate! I hace wacked one of those in a pot today for germination.
My question is this: Should I keep the pictured plant growing? Its very stunted and old for its size. But there is a nice amount of new groth. I have no idea of what the pictured seed is. Except that it is a bagseed.

your stunted plant has little to do with the seed age or even the chicken mauling. Your soil is ill.
too wet, for too long. you need better drainage, less watering frequency and better light, air flow and nutrients.
planting a seed and discarding it while its growing is a personal choice.

Keep it and wash out the soil so it's just bare roots, transplant into some suitable soil, and hope for a little luck? Looks pretty bad, sorry m8

Eat the chicken or keep your plants inside.

Thanks for your advice mate! I had it in a coir mix with peat too, but found it dried out really fast and the pot got hot too. When it's inside it's under a 300w led.
I repotted it today into a larger pot with soil from the vegie patch.
Our weather has been stupid for outdoor growing the past month. From 22c overcast one day to literally 40c the next with seriously intense sun.

yeah, but don't water quite so much, and while it's hard to tell from your photos, looks like your soil may be a little heavy, if you have easy access to perlite, i'd suggest repotting with about 25% added to your soil. if you can't get it, add a couple of handfuls of good coarse sand
