Should I be able to find a 12 inch to 6 inch duct reducer in my area?

Hello RIU so I bought this huge 12" vortex inline fan for my lights only problem is the hoods have a 6" opening for ventilation. So I'm going to need a 12" to 6" duct reducer I've found 2 on Amazon but both are outrageously expensive for something as simple as a duct reducer. Does anyone know where I can find one for cheaper? Like in the 10-15$ range. I have all the typical hardware stores in my area. Home Depot, Lowes, True Value, and Ace Hardware. Would any of these places stock an item like this?

You won't find anything that cheap. I would find some 12" ducting, and run it where you want your air to go. Then run your 6" ducting off each light into your main 12" line. If you pull rather than push, the suction will help prevent air leaks.

And to better answer your question, no big box store carries that stuff. You'd need to buy three reducers to get from 12" to 6" . Like someone else mentioned, make one. It's just a funnel

How about 2 reducers? 12 to 8 and then 8 to 6 should be easy to find. Just tape them together and bingo?

Edit: beaten to it, lol

Probably because I've been watching re-runs of Gunsmoke... got my draw a little faster ;-)
But yea it's nice to see my idea wasn't complete lunacy, cause you had the same idea... or maybe we're both lunatics? hhhmmm

u can get a 12" x 8" x 8" wye from ebay. run the 8" lines to hoods n reduce to 6"…..just make sure u have enough air flow to cool the 12" fan. a 12" duct has the volume of at least 3-4 6" ducts...

You could get a 12" to 8" then an 8" to 6" perhaps?[/QUOTE
Do you think it would be possible to to get a 12" to 8" then just line the lip of the reducer with some putty like material or something similar to make it tight enough to slip a 6" duct in there?
