i was about to swich back to soil from rockwool. i have expierience with soil and have had good success. i was wondering should i do 12 plants under 2 1000w lights in 5 gal buckets vegged for 2 months maybe 2 1/2. or 25 plants in 2 gal pots? curious what people would do. time and schedules are not an option i have nothing but time and thirst for knowledge. thank you

6 per light vegged for 2 months? I dont think they will fit. I am running 3 per light, and only vegging 1 month, some of mine will have to go 2 per light because they are so big. If you are doing 6 per light, you can probably get away with a MUCH shorter veg time, maybe 2 weeks.

im on my first grow and i got 6 plants under an aircooled 1000 watt. i plan for a final height of 4-5ft. i would say 6 indica dom plants per light that u flip to 12/12 once they reach 2ft. tall or so. its usually more work but more efficent to grow more plants with less veg time but growing from seed the long veg time would allow the plants to mature. If u have a lot of time, google 'how to manipulate photoperiod for yield marijuana'.

Bro from my experience the bigger the plant bigger the yield you could train 12 monsters under 2 1000 watt lights 1000w hid's make big buds if you keep your temps down

But trying to fit that many "monsters" under 2kw, wouldnt you just end up with a whole lot of shaded out fluffy bottom buds? A trimming nightmare even? >:0/

I wouldn't use time as my yardstick, I would use a yardstick as my yardstick. I agree with Canuck, get to 2 feet and switch to 12/12. Just one mans opinion and good luck, big grow for justa hobby.

well let me give you the design of my grow setup so you have a bettter idea. i appologize for not posting this info earlier. my room is 9x9x8. i have 4 1ks in there with a c02 tank,ac, fans. with all 4 lights on it doesnt get hotter than 80. and thats only on 95*+. days. so what i do is to get a harvest every month and a half. i have one 3x6 tray which is directly under 2 lights and about 3 feet away i have another 3x6 under 2 lights. so i stagger the tray cycles so my lower branches on my more mature flower will recieve a better light pentration with the other trays light being lower, one tray will always be a month behind the other. i hope you get and understand my layout. if not ill explain better. thank you for the tips. ive always thought bigger plants will produce bigger yields. ill just top em a few times and octupus em(which is a common bondage i use and love)

Very well said. You throiw them into flowering when they aer big enough, not odl enough, and in the same way you then harvest them when they are ready, not when a breeders packet tells you you ought to be :)

Personally I'd run 8 plants, and grow myself some organic monsters.

BioCanna BioTerra on the BioCanna Vega and Flora line. I would amend the soil with oyster shell for calcium, AN Great White for biologicals, and GH Rare Earth for humics and silicon. I would supplement my grow with some of Humboldt Nutrients' products like Sea Mag, Flavorful, and Honey ES. I would also use Canna Rhizotonic, CannaZym, PK 13/14, and Boost Accelerator.

I'd go with 12 fem'd seeds, something like Sour Kush, Cole Train, Lemon Skunk, maybe True Blueberry. I'd be aiming for a hybrid with vigor and high quality taste and smell. Quantity isn't my goal really, not with 2000w, I could grow enough for an entire year of personal consumption on that system in just 4 months.

My 8 plants would be made to be bushy. I would start them with day light CFL bulbs up to maybe the 4th or 5th node. Then I'd transplant, defoliate, and begin using HID lighting. Once the plant had rebounded I would fimm after the 6th or 7th node. I'd also top the branches as they exceed the main stalk height. I may defoliate 2 more times during veg, and if possible fimm the main stalk branches as well. This should require a week extended vegetative period for each rebound, and 2 months (8-9 weeks) sounds like an appropriate amount of time to reach 24" to 28" tall. Each plant will have dozens of well developed tops, and should be fairly uniform and even. I would anticipate 10 weeks of flower for the quicker strains and up to 14 weeks for the longer ones.

They would be started in party cups, transplanted to 2 gallon SmartPots and finished in 10 gallon smart pots that have been rolled down so they only contain 6-7 gallons of soil (about 20 liters). My thought is about 1 liter per week of life. The width of the 10 gallon planters allows for the roots to really stretch out to support these soon to be top heavy bushes.

That's what I'd do, in soil, with these lights. Coco, or just hydro, is a totally different story.
