I see it only does 315CFM tho. Most 6" are in the 400-440 range. Can see why it uses less power and can claim the highest cfm per watt. Would be more than the 440 I have running at half speed so good enough for my needs as they stand.

I'm using a ceiling fan speed controller done up in an electrical box with cords for my fan. Works fine and no pulsing or rumbling noise at all. The bearing is going in this no-name fan that I got used from a buddy who got it used from a buddy so no idea how many hours were on it when I got it. Dirty as hell when I got it so lots of hours I'm guessing. Buddy was running it full bore for months with the fan pushing air into the carbon filter and he lives on a gravel truck route 40 ft. from the road. Plugged the filter right up good and likely wasn't good for the fan either with no filter.

I have a heavy-duty 6" biscuit fan that works with the speed controller fine I can put into service with a couple of 6" round to 7x8" side take-out pieces of duct fittings that with some tin work, a few screws and some Gorilla tape could be put into service quick if this one craps out on me. Been noisy for a few months but not getting noticeably worse very fast. Won't be pretty but will for sure save my ass and might be a while before I'd bother to replace it.

This is it here hard at work.

The backup fan is on the bottom. Loud as hell but blows lots of air hard at full speed.

What haters? I said in my initial post that hyper fans were less powerful than most inline fans but use half the wattage.

Easy big fella. I was referring to this.

They audibly pulse. It’s just not as bad as haters say and it hasn’t hurt my fans performance in 3 years.
I haven't decided whether to build my 8x4' addition to my current basement grow room so If I could get that fan of yours for a much better price than the Vortex and made a firm decision not to build the new space I'd grab it up.

If I do build the addition I will need two 6" fans feeding into an 8" inline carbon filter then out thru my 6" exhaust port. Two backflow valves as well so when one fan kicks on it's air goes thru the filter and not feed back to the 2nd fan. Got it all mapped out in my head. :)

In that configuration two of those Hyper fans would do the job great and I'd save double. Like mom always says, You got champagne tastes on a beer budget. :D

Having that workable backup fan gives me the luxury of procrastinating a little longer.

Still like that sexy Vortex tho. ;)

Lol. I forgot I mentioned that. Sorry. I didn’t mean it in a hater kinda way though.

Both fans are pretty bad ass. But my cheap $80 with $20 speed controller hydrofarm old style green fans work great too and hold up. Much bigger and heavier though.

And that was the point of my first post. Get some gear and grow.

So vortex s line 6 inch is better than hyperfan? The hyperfan I believe is EC technology..

Now I am doubting to get the hyperfan....

Nothing wrong with the Hyperfan at all. Personally I'd prefer the Vortex for reasons I'd mentioned before but the HF can be got for less money especially if you shop online for your gear at places like Amazon.

I'm too paranoid to shop for grow gear online so I'd most likely buy whatever fan the grow store had in stock for the best price when I walked in. Last time I ordered a bunch of stuff from the store I deal with in Edmonton I asked the owner if they ever got used gear like trimmers. Just so happened that he had a lightly used TrimPro Unplugged that he took back from the customer who bought it new as a trade-in towards a powered trimmer worth $3000. I got it for half of it's $600 retail price. My total order was almost $900 and I gave my buddies the cash to pick it up for me as they were going down there to see a doctor. Would have cost me another $150 to have it delivered otherwise.

Now I am considering a system air revolution either silenced or non silenced
Those silenced ones are certainly pricey. 500 British pounds for the 6". Not sure how much more the pound is worth than the Canadian dollar but even if it was at par that price would scare me off.

You are the one buying tho and have to decide if you need a quieter fan and the extra money is worth it. I don't have to worry about that part so it wouldn't factor into my decision. Always best to get more than you need at the time in case you decide to go bigger in the near future or just because you can run a larger unit at slower speeds for less power consumption and quieter operation. Even a silenced fan makes a lot of noise at full speed and you wouldn't want to be sleeping next to a tent with one in it. :)

Same. Paranoid about delivery. I would rather go around the whole country for my gear or get a price match.

I’m thinking to go HF but get the 8” as the 6inch is only 315cfm

Better to have more and not need it than less when you need more.

I've been gathering bits and pieces of grow gear for the last 17 years. Have good DIY skills so will make what I can't afford if I can.

How big a tent are you in? Or will you be in?
I'm in a 4 x 4 and ive never had the Hyper fan over 40%. Normally sits at about 20% with passive intake's

Edit; I'm using the 6inch.

Have you looked at the Pro Series Can-Fans?

http://canfilters.com/fans/max-fans/pro-series-fans.html
They are Light Weight fiberglass, and have a built in power/speed adjusters. More efficient that the previous models. I believe they're supposed to be more power efficient as well, but don't quote me on that.

As far as what you should get OP, your list looks pretty good. Either just get "something" and begin. As you learn you will upgrade and change things. Or purchase the best brand items you can and look to use them long term.

^Remember you get what you pay for, there's a reason things are priced more in certain cases. (Ie. Quality wise it's hard to put a Blurple beside a Cob, or a China tent beside a Gorilla tent, or China Filter beside a Can-Filter)

And note, marketing will always push new products out, or new versions or models of products, so be prepared to be happy with your purchase if you are making large ticket purchases. (ie: if you shell out on an expensive "off the shelf" LED grow light, chances are there will be "better" LED grow light out next year... maybe even in 6 months.)

Slightly confused but is this the same as the iso max fans?

No the Q-Max and the Iso-Max would be comparable models. They are both more expensive, but have "built in silencers". I'd imagine they would be much heavier.

The one I posted is just a regular inline fan. It's made of fibreglass so it's much lighter (Great for a tent!) and more efficient than their original can-fan. It also has the build in speed controller which is super handy.
