most believe Hortilux bulbs should not be used with digi ballasts...thoughts?
According to Hortilux this is no longer a true statement:thats pretty standard thinking. hortilux was good in its day. when ballasts were magnetic
i have "one run" horti 600 HPS (2)....that i don't use anymore after i switched to digi ballasts...if anyone wants them for cheap...PM me.According to Hortilux this is no longer a true statement:

However, all evidence to the contrary in my experience with the Hortilux BLUE bulbs.
The site I bought my lumatek from said on the ballast info page that they did not recommend using them as well due to customer complaints.I can tell you I've had repeated problems with Hortilux MH bulbs on Lumatek ballasts. For some reason the bulbs don't ignite consistently, it's a real pain in the ass. The Hortilux HPS bulbs -- I never had a problem with them on Lumatek ballasts.
I don't think either product is inferior, I think it's a compatibility issue.
the manufacturers website states that the opti-red is optimized in red as well as the blue spectrum and they show a graph to back this up. if a third party generated graph were easy to find we could say for sure... mine burn orange as shit to my eye......so do the ushio 'Opti-reds" have a good amount of blue in them?
correct and same here. but anything above the 400w including the hps like a 600 or 1000 could have issues too they are designed specifically for mag ballasts, this why they made a special ballast that runs AC elec converted into more stable square wave DC thus the higher price for the ballastI can tell you I've had repeated problems with Hortilux MH bulbs on Lumatek ballasts. no you dont.lots of lumatek users it seems. no one uses phantom? i really like the auto dim feature. turns a 1k into a 750 or 600 automatically after warm up every light cycle. with lumatek you actually need to use different lamps if you want to adjust the wattage down.
right....i can run my 600 at 400 or lower if i ever wanted too.no you dont.
says right on the box anymore, e ballast compatible( magnetic or digital ballast), now two years ago it was a different story but I never had a problem running hortilux with a digital, there is only hortilux in my book.most believe Hortilux bulbs should not be used with digi ballasts...thoughts?
