Shiskaberry Smoke Report

Strain: Shiskaberry / Frankenberry Phenotype
Growth: bushy/indica responds well to topping and training in veg but does not add height very quickly. Flowers in about 65 days with little stretch during its flowering cycle. Buds are dense and heavy with large colas that need to be supported so that the branches will not bend and break under the weight.
Nutes: Botanicare Pure Blend Pro with additives by Biobizz, Advanced Nutrients and General Organics. Mostly organically grown. Sunshine Mix #4 for soil
Yield: 3 ft high by 3 ft wide plant yields 5 to 7oz indoor in a 8x8 room with 4 1000 watt HPS bulbs
Bag Appeal: ++++ dark purple, dense, resin covered nugs that smell more like a bag of candy than marijuana
Smell: fruity grape smell. Sweet, NO skunk smell at all
Taste: mixed berries. Good to the last hit - the flavor really doesn't fade.
The High: No ceiling - the more you smoke, the more intense the high becomes. Giggly/creative when smoked in small amounts. Couch-lock, munchies, sleep when heavily used. We have been smoking this strain for 3 years and are still love smoking it. Something you could smoke every day and never get sick of.
Comments: This plant is extremely hardy and vigorous. It handles stress in the garden better than most of our other plants and can handle nutes in excess or depletion without much change to the finished result. It recovers very well from the stress it does see and its yields are hardly ever affected by any garden problems we have come across.

Better pictures to come. These are from a previous harvest, and we have a tripod now so the shots will have a little more detail in the future :)View attachment 2008353View attachment 2008354View attachment 2008355View attachment 2008356

Great report. Beautiful plants. What Shishkaberry is that? Or should I say whose? I used to grow the spice of life Shishkaberry. I loved that strain but I lost her. I am about to chop down some KOS shish99.

This was a cash crop ken strain....pretty sure the only way you would be able to get it would be to live in Canada and acquire a clone. This strain is also known as Kish I believe....

Steve came back into the scene a few years ago, after conflict with Marc Emery. Emery had been distributing, the lines Steve had been coming up with. Like Shiskaberry, plum bud, Jack herer x kush and some others, I believe Steve was in on or had the original Island sweet bud clone as I recall also.

Steve hooked up with DJ Short after returning to Cannabis Culture to pummel Emery. For screwing him on payment, and losing a bunch of his seeds in a raid. Steve was on a mission to threaten anyone using his names like "Shiskaberry" to sell their seeds.

Well, the threats didn't take as you can see from this thread, a number of people not only used steve's work but took the name as well.

Marc Emery, had been accused of repeatedly, recasting, remaking seeds (F2s) from other people. And then selling them as the original product. This let Emery collect even more massive amounts of money then he already had. Living a luxurious life style, and rumor had it, Marc burying a large amount of the cash in his parents Canadian residence.

I grew Steve's Strawbery Blonde out. I found it pretty lacking across the board. I talked to Steve about it, he swore to me that I had gotten, the Emery fakes, as I would have been blown away by anything Steve had actually made himself.

The very low yieldng cutting I smoked of original Shiskaberry, was one of the best things I tried from the time period, when it was created. Original Shisk was a good yielder, but a few that didn't yield were the ones that appeared to be the most exceptional.

You know I believed steve for a few years about Emery, and Emery may well have been what Steve said. But then Steve came out with his new Shiskaberry. And some other things, Like LUI "Legends Ultimate Indica". Anybody remember LUI, Steve touted this as some major break through.

Well, I smoked it 3 times from 3 different growers. And to well put it lightly, IMO it was junk. I wouldn't smoke it, sell it or grow it.

Emery insisted that steve had gotten lucky, and had access to a number of good held clones when he had made his original splash into the grow world. (DJ Shorts Blueberry, crossed with, Texas Tom's held red and yellow afghani clones, made original shisk)
And that original shisk could never really be recreated.

I see both sides of the coin. I still don't know for sure who was lying and who wasn't. Maybe in the end they both were ;)

I know they sell Kish seeds from CCK @ Vancouver Seed Bank (.com) and their Hastings St., Van store..
I've seen a supposed Kish cut out their and didn't look purp at all like JJ's, def had that candied type smell tho, and yielded huge chunky buds ( like 2x other clones next to it).. The smoke was lacking in my opinion... the high JJ described seems much more like the Shish I used to get. Honestly the diference in name (shishkaberry -> kish) and the breeding involved made a much bigger difference than I thought it would..
I never grew out any Shishkaberry but I would grab some from my buddy every once in a while, still no purple but it always had a reddish hue to it and smelled like skunky, musty mangoes. Nice social high, and I don't know about ceilings but I'd find myself rolling up spliff after spliff every time I smoked it at night or in a social setting, like some old school bud.

To the OP....damn rights! I just finnished one of these and everything you said is spot on. Mine did stretch a bit though, actually alot now that i think of it. But the flavor was like you said, when i was trimming it smelt like grape bubble tape. The thing grew so fast i knew why they named the pheno "franken". She was crazy. I let one go 71 days and she was so purple she was almost black! The ones i cut earlier were less purple so i figure the longer she goes the darker she gets. Great high, awsome hash cause shes covered in crystals but id really reccomend her in dirt. She does weird shit in hydro. Not the best yielder, i only got 9.6 oz dry from this one. It sounds like lots but the other ones were better. Shes much more reliable in dirt. Oh, she also gave a bunch of sap balls off, IDFK?? :):):)

I just popped 10 of these it is a favorite of mine from back in the day and I can't wait for to see how they do. 10 for 10 have popped from the soil. Order them from Cash Crop Ken at Vancouver seed bank, they now take credit cards from a sister company and ship to the US. I will let you all know how they turn out.
