the girls are healthy and i think the "mold" is under control.
what can happen with that anyway? does that lead to damping off?
what is the worst that could happen?

well if the mold is in the soil, it can go to your roots, which results in a dead or dying plant, i mean mold on anything is bad haha

looks like i'll be topping both girls on friday. Gwen is starting to develop her 5th node and Liza is on her 4th. Planning to cut them both back to just above the 2nd or node, depending on how developed each girl looks. probably 2nd on Gwen and 3rd on Liza.

well it's starting to dry out, only one bad patch on the soil in Liza's pot, other than that things look alright. both girls are VERY healthy and look like they're ready for anything lol. i like this Happy Frog soil, only fed them once with SuperThrive and once with molasses, and they're vibrant and robust. hell yes.

BTW i have a feeling the mold could actually be from the molasses i fed them with. i dripped 1mL on the surface and watered it in. the mold is probably from that and like i said almost gone. lesson learned, dilute molasses. :wall:

Hey bro, I am sub'd and pullin' upa chair!

How about some updated pics of the pretty ladies!?

bongsmilie
welcome!!! everybody always waits till mid-veg to sub
i might do that in a little bit. i have my watering system installed and "calibrated"
i need to share some photos of it, and do some Q&A i took pics of the all the equipment involved.

oh and as another thought, next week i'm going to adjust my light schedule from 24/0 to 18/6 to prepare them for 24 hours dark next friday, and start flowering the following day at 12/12
(i always hear good things about 24 hour dark, supposedly they show sex sooner, my turn to give it a go!)

also doing 18/6 in hopes it encourages them to grow a little slower in their last week of veg. i'm headed out of town (next week) wednesday and coming back friday afternoon. i don't want them to stretch upwards into the light. nervous as hell about leaving my girls. but they won't do the REAL stretching until 12/12 starts.

all for now.

TL;DR Welcome Topher!! Changing the light schedule next week. Out of town for awhile. Start flower week from Saturday. Pics later today.

Yea i heard about the 24 dark period, its supposed to help certain strains, i dont think its a guaranteed thing, but plants dont usually take more then 14 days to show sex. how fast are they growing on 24/0? i have been talkin in purpdaddy thread and there is a discussion on it, i personally think in 18/6 they grow faster

just shy of two weeks under 24-hour light and Gwen is pushing her 5th node by tomorrow and Liza is starting up her 3rd or 4th.
I have to say i'm impressed with the results of 24-hour light. they're healthy, robust, vibrant and damn they already smell sweet (that's not the light, just genetics, gonna need a carbon filter!)
i like this 24 hour light. i saw the discussion on purp's thread, i chimed in on it. i did 18/6 on my last grow and they didn't grow nearly as fast as 24/0 it took me 3 1/2 weeks under 18/6 to get where i am after 2 weeks under 24/0
of course COMPLETELY different conditions, 18/6 grow was hydro and unknown bagseed, this grow is soil and established genetics. so who knows?!

but i'll say this with good genetics and good growing medium 24/0 will yield strong healthy plants!

Yeah it is the good genetics, I use 18/6 and it works great
I think the plants like a rest, 24/0 lighting seems unnatural

haha yeah it does seem unnatural i've just been too lazy to set my timer. HAHA i had ZERO intentions of doing a 24-0 grow.
But once it started I was like "fuck it, they're growing" and just haven't pushed down the pins on the timer.
I'm at the point now where I'm thinking "but if i change it now it could throw off the whole life cycle of these beautiful plants?!"
i have no rhyme or reason to 24-0 it just happened and it works.

i agree with tom.. 24/0 is not necessary. i use 20/4.. plants like a dark cycle between 3-6 hours during veg. i think they actually grow faster this way. a good friend of mine gives his plants 8 hours of dark every 2 days when in veg, he swears they grow fastest this way.

there is for sure no "right" way to do it.

about to post some pics of the girls as well as some of the DIY dripper system.
Does anyone care for info about the dripper system?
I'll add a poll see if anyone wants a DIY thread for the dripper system.

As usual RIU.org is being a crybaby bitch and not letting me upload photos the way I would like! So for no enjoy the girls and maybe later I'll show the DIY drippers.

Here is lady Gwen (Great White Shark, she smells exotic and sweet)

Good lady Liza (Lemon Skunk, her scent lives up the name)

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the girls two days apart
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the girls two days apart, FIRST here they are only 2 days ago!

And now, taken just moments ago TODAY

I'm looking forward to topping these ladies Friday, their nodes should be just perfect and ready to show off four main colas!! :-P too excited for my own good!
