We are bullied to believe that and for the most part, perception is reality, but you're wrong about this. A good example is federal minimum wage and the few states that pay less.
What state or states pay less than federal minimum wage?

Edit. I said pay. Not what's on the books. The state minimum may be lower in some places but they have to pay the federal amount by law.

I was thinking that the reason Nixon started this shit about pot was to get at his perceived political enemies (lot's of evidence to back this up). What if Sessions/Trump want to go after say, BIll Maher or other political enemies who smoke pot (or maybe not), say swoop into legal states and target their political enemies. That was the original purpose of the law after all and why it was created.

The times have changed, the blow back and slap down from this might surprise a few elephants and dinosaurs. Lots of folks in the old confederacy like to smoke dope too and more than one good old boy has a grow. Many in the Republican base are indeed base, but they are also stoned as well as stunned...
I like your thinking here.

Don't insult our primate cousins, they woulda threw his ass outta the tree long ago. Donald has something wrong with his brain and is incapable of shame, those who support him have other reasons for their behaviour, racism, greed, stupidity...
I think Alzheimer's explains his behavior.

Did Jeff Sessions Just Increase the Odds Congress Will Make Marijuana Legal?
The attorney general has created intolerable uncertainty for a growing industry that is now demanding legal protections from Congress. And lawmakers are listening.

The Democratic Senator from Colorado (Bennett) sent Mr Sessions a letter demanding an explanation for going back on his pre-appointment promises, and the Republican Senator from Colorado (Gardner) harangued him from the Senate floor and has pledged to hold all judicial appointments until Mr Sessions reverses course.

The blowback has already started and it's hitting them right in their most important priorities.

This ain't yer daddy's pot legalisation movement, it's an idea whose time has come. Almost 70% of the electorate are in favor of legislation and almost half of those are republicans, even a big chunk of Trump's base favors of legalisation. With a super majority in favor of ending prohibition, it's a hard point for ole Jeff to argue and a popular election issue for 2018. I can't see congress giving any money for pot enforcement and it might extend the current restrictions on it due to expire on Jan 19 (I believe), as an easy way out of the mess for now.

That about sums it up.

Of course this administration could never be fairly accused of making any intellect moves regarding their chances for reelection.

Anyone remember which moron on here tried to convince us that liberals were freaking out over nothing, that Trump as a business man supported legalized pot, and that Sessions had no intention of turning back the clock to enforce federal marijuana laws?

I have no examples obviously. do you think states should retain rights above the federal government?

If Americans don't severely punish the republicans in the midterm elections of 2018 the country is finished. If Trump and crowd get away with this bullshit America is done and deserves it. If being a traitor is not enough to turf these guys, what is? This is now a life and death political struggle, the old game is over, if the democrats win there will be lot's of republicans going to jail. The political types won't have to lift a finger, just get out of the way of the career professionals and the unfolding investigations.
Trump and crowd are going to jail, to do otherwise would be the end of the republic, it's that simple. No, I'm not overstating the case, it's the rule of Trump or the rule of law, a stark choice. Countries like the USA are built on the rule of law and no democratic country can long remain one with a traitorous criminal as president.

If Donald goes down, so too does Jeff Sessions, he committed perjury and possibly treason. As for treason and the constitution, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Russian Federation since the election, think Pearl Harbor. Trump has done nothing to stop new or ongoing Russian attacks and has not enforced the sanctions congress imposed on Russia etc. There is a mountain of evidence against these clowns and the republicans in congress are obstructing justice, aiding and abetting treason. They swore an oath to the constitution, not Trump or Putin.

I'm a Canadian and not a real big fan of the USA at times (just like many Americans), but like all friends I'm concerned with the direction the country is headed. If I'm pissed about the situation, I can just imagine how a patriotic American would feel about this, I feel sorry for all American patriots. If I were an American I'd be mightily pissed right about now, a great country laid low.
