Seriously considering moving my family to Colorado-

I've lived here for 20 years. Came to college at CSU and never left. Fort Collins is a great city for families. All sorts of stuff to do. Great outdoors activities within a short distance. Great breweries nightlife etc. Good schools. And only an hour to Denver. Let me know if you got questions.

Good schools sound promising...

My 5 year old son already met a few bullies at his school here in AZ.

I was trying to stay in Southern Colorado, mainly for better weather, I guess.

Is there really that much difference between Ft. Collins, and Pueblo when it comes to snow, ice and blizzards.

My old body is too beat up for major snow shoveling jobs.

no, lol. Actually, IMO, it's colder on the Monument hill area than Ft Collins and that's 2 hours south.... so that don't really matter unless you look somewhere like Craig.... I think that's the coldest place on the planet :-) As far as shoveling, just be sure to get a place with a south facing driveway or the shoveling will suck.

i would definitely go for Ft Collins over Pueblo. Best brewery in CO in Ft Collins... maybe the West even.... Odell's IPA is bomb

A subu-what???

I was planning on driving my old Ford F-150 2 wheel drive.

I learned to drive a muscle car on snow and ice when I was 16, so not overly concerned about that.

Sucks I can't buy right away from a dispensary though.

How long is the wait to get a card?
What's the cost?
Are they strict at all?

Seems like a silly question, since recreational Cannabis passed in Colorado...
Come Jan 1, there will be legal recreational shops and I believe one is opening in Peublo. You can get it right away!

We lived in Tucson and were paying $1100 for a 4br place, not too bad. We now live in CO Spgs and pay $1450 for 3br, 3 level house for comparison purposes.

Thanks for sharing.

Other than the rent, how does living in CO Spgs compare to Tucson?

I do know that all dispensaries in Pueblo area are NOT in Pueblo due to moritorium. Pueblo city sucks.

Pueblo West is where most the action is.

Just looking at the street map, I was gonna guess better neighborhoods could be found North of the 50, and maybe in pueblo west...

I'd like to find a nice low rent area, that isn't too ghetto-

Maybe a Colorado Springs suburb would be better?
Pueblo WEST is way upscale. Further west in Pueblo West there is lots of very big houses, 250k and up. There is a LOT of correctional facilities in the county so a large number of corrections officers. Have worked on many of their homes. They must get paid well.

Closer to Walmart it's much cheaper but still sweet neighborhoods. Between mccullouch and mccullouch west is great south of 50 hwy. Off purcell north of 50.

250k+ is upscale in Pueblo? From what we have looked at $250 gets you an ok house in an ok neighborhood up this way. Or a place in the middle of BFE somewhere.

Also, saw a few comments about the legal system and cops being a hassle. Are you talking about cannabis possession/growing/etc, or just in general? I remember where I grew up the police often violated rights, usually of young or ethnic people. But in most of my experience I find if you don't break the law or get to rowdy, that sort of thing is not usually an issue.

Move somewhere in the mountains. That's my dream. I am so sick of the metro area. Would love to live above 7000ft somewhere. This 5280 is getting to be too much for me now-a-days.

I moved across the country to pueblo,CO.

Im honestly not sure why people hate on it? By ghetto people mean poor to middle class?

Almost everyday I watch the news and hear of murders and shootings in the south springs. ....but stay outta pueblo? Lol

As far as cops.... the sheriff and sal the mayor could care 2 shits about anything under a few lb's. They are gonna have 7 dispensaries total between pueblo west and pueblo licensed for recreational users. I say stay outta south pueblo and south springs, north fountain. I have found thos3 areas to remind me of the hood more than anything.

This is just 2 or so months of making friends and just driving around. Got family in north fountain amd they say its getting bad. They recently had there 98 honda robbed. Used to not even lock the doors now they have an alarm system. They are not even smokers so they ask for no trouble.

Oh and brother with the rec. law coming you will have plenty meds. to get you thru till your red card arrives. You will want the red card tho so you can have more plants and more dried product. If your not a dipshit slanging buds on the street the cops seem cool.

Boulder was weed heaven and has been the two times ive been there but lots and lots of cold air and snow.

Forgot to tell you snow in Pueblo is gone in 2 days. And being from chicago this snow here is a dusting. 35-50 degree days thru winter sounds nice right? Come on home man and send me a message when you get here if ya need a hand. Good luck brother and peeps always have bad shit to say its more what YOU make it. IMO

Talking 5 bedroom, modern with finished basement. Values dropped a lot.
Talking about growing, possesion, transportation
Hmmm, very interesting. Thanks man.

Def worth checking into some more. We had looked at the crime data online and talked to a few dif people that grew up in Co before coming and pretty much ruled out that entire area, lol.

The 7 despensary comment is throwing me off btw. Are you saying there are none there now for med patients? and they will be opening 7 soon? Cuz out of the 400 here, I've only been able to find a handful of good ones, lol.

No good dispensaries in Pueblo West. They all have crap twig. Only ones worth a damn are Greener Side and Pueblo West Organics but I just grow my own so I am more concerned with getting a big house cheaply.
