Serious Seeds AK47 Regular going hermie?! Seriously?

How was the bubblegum??? I have wanted to grow it for 12 yrs!!! Haha just never bought the seeds.
It did well outside, and under the HPS. Under MH it stayed squat and became really leafy. If you do try it, keep it under HPS or outside light. Mine had absolutely zero stretch which in my case was not ideal. It was so bushy that the internodes were only 1/4" apart and I was defoliating like crazy under the MH during veg. Outside it grew normal.

I bought an 11 pack of Serious Seeds AK47 about 2 months ago. Sprouted them all and in 12/12 for a couple weeks. I was surprised to see that all 11 seeds were showing female.......at first. Now out of the 11 "females" 5 are showing males parts as well. There is 1 that is showing mostly males parts with a few female parts and I was going to keep the pollen off of it, but now I don't feel comfortable anymore.

I purchase regular seeds for stability and so I can make my own seeds and crosses. But what the fuck do I want hermie genetics for? I'm very disappointed. Seeds are not cheap and when I start seeing more instability in "regular" genetics than feminized genetics, I start to get concerned.

Has anyone else experienced shit quality from Serious Seeds recently? I was very excited about getting some AK47 seeds from all the hype I was hearing. But now I've been reading and experiencing some not so good hype.

I can understand finding 1 hermie in a 10 pack, but finding half of them to be hermie is excessive. And no, I don't want to save hermie pollen because it's just going to make all my stable strains, not so stable anymore.

So you must be one of those people that read somewhere that fems were hermie prone, and you believed it...

Funny thing to me, the only herms I have had have been from regular seeds. I have never had a herm from a feminized seed.

Ironic huh?

Just goes to show, don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I WAS one of those people, lol, and I only believed it because when you mess with nature it can do some weird things back. But I sure don't believe it anymore. I'm more tempted to go for feminized seeds after this crap and whats great about feminized seeds is that they are going to be closest to the REAL original strain anyway.

The internet sure can be a load of crap at times, but I think that it's nicer than having to go to the library and have to look for a book that's either checked out or wrecked. I'm kind of a techno junky anyway.

Ya know, I'm really not here to just "knock" a seed company which I believe many of you perceived right off the bat. As I've looked around at other strain reviews on the forum, ie. Tangerine Dream, I see quite a few forum members "knocking" this strain straight up without any kind of photos/reasoning/lengthy explanation as to why they are knocking it in the first place.

I actually took the time to explain my reasoning behind why I felt I got a bad stash of seeds from SS. I also took the time to post photos. I think it's quite possible to get bad batches of seeds from any seed company and it doesn't mean they straight up suck! I'm looking forward to what the last 5 seeds bring to the table.

I have the Tangerine Dream going right now actually and am happy so far. I guess I lucked out and got 2 real squatty bush TD outta my 5 pack. I hear a lot of complaints about this strain that it tends to lean towards the Sativa side, and I did get 3 of those, but I am keeping the short ones because I want to run them in a SOG next grow.

I'm also growing TGA's Plush Berry and out of 10 seeds I'm keeping 3 of them. 6 of them were male, and 1 hermed out. So it's not like the hermed out thing only happens to 1 seed bank, it happens to quite a few. It's just the high numbers that is the culprit right now. To me it shows that the original AK47 has gone through a lot over the years. Who knows what the breeders do to these plants? Are they still hitting them with collodial silver to get the fems? That shit is toxic. In that sort of environment, a lot of shit can go wrong.

I appreciate the fem seeds because when done right, it's nice to be able to get some decent plants out of just a few seeds, but at a cost. Go ahead and call me whatever makes you feel like you are better than me, but I have a right to come on here and criticize a strain that I have taken the time and effort to grow. It just may very well be that the seeds you get from seed banks these days are just knock-offs of the original with a pretty name slapped on some pretty packaging. It's a huge huge industry and these guys are making a butt-load of money off of SEEDS. So I think it's only fair after I've spent the loot, taken the time/effort, the photos, the review for me to come on here and tell it like it is without getting bullshit comments back with nothing to back yerselves up.

To the rest of the commenters that show honesty, respect I welcome you to take part in this thread as I still have more photos to come to conclude this debate of whether or not the shit has hit the fan, or if there is still some legitness with the AK47.

fan boys chill geez...the man says he's been growing awhile; maybe, just maybe he got a bad batch of seeds and they where not good like he says. I grew their chronic back in 2010 and they where regs and they too hermied so just because people praise SS does not mean they are 100% perfect.

Hermi MJ plants have been on this planet longer than us probably...
All MJ had s33ds @ one time and I guarantee all of them weren't created by 100% males

Seems a bit unbelievable.. but I guess it was either a bad batch of seeds or the seed pack was tampered with... I read a few stories lately with people claiming their order from attitude had been opened/tampered with leaving the conclusion that they were possibly using the packs for pick n mix stock.. if that were true then it would be possible for them to make a fuck up at some stage and put the wrong beans in the pack... just a theory

Fem seeds are just as stable if not more so btw depending on the breeder. I read what the GOOD breeders do ,is take a room full of plants and stress the shit out of them in everyway possible ,eliminate the ones that herm 1 by 1 until they are left with the ones that didn't herm. Then they use the chemical on those plants to make them make seeds, the offspring produced will only ever herm when treated with the chemical.

I've seen nanners at the 7-8 week of flower on my AK but it didn't put out any pollen. I had cyclamen mites at that time so stress may have been the reason. I'm willing to give Simon the benefit of the doubt because serious seeds genetics have been the most stable from what I've seen in my nearly twenty years of growing. I've ran almost all their gear with no problems except once my chronic main cola got moldy due to its massive size and my lack of ventilation at the time.

You should go on their forum and message Simon. He is a great guy and will probably try to fix your problem. I had problem with an order in the past (Half my seeds were crushed upon delivery). He gladly sent another pack.

well im late to the party but as they say its better to be late than to not show up at all. and in the cannabis seed world when it comes to flawed genetics and hermies it is necessary. i am with you my friend. i purchased an 11 pack of AK 47 regular seeds from serious seeds via seedsman around 3 months ago. out of the 11 seeds 8 turned out to be female with 3 males. i was 36 days in since flipping 12/12 light for flowering and noticed 4 of the 8 plants had between 4-8 bananas growing out of the buds from various parts of the plants. i chopped down and destroyed them. i got up this morning and upon further inspection and noticed another one of them had bananas growing out as well so i just chopped her down. so im down to 3 remaining plants. of the 3 remaining 2 i plan on getting rid of because they have horrible bud structure due to being runty airy sativa type buds. but the 3rd which was plant 7 of 8 is nice looking very balanced hybrid with what look as if will have very tight hard buds.

i came upon this post yesterday because i wanted to see if anyone else encountered hermie issues with serious seeds ak47 regular seeds and i found this. now i believe op and that it was not his fault and the fault of genetics because i know for a fact it is not my fault. in this exact room i have 10 strains in total. and of the 10 strains that are in this room there was a total of 80 plants. of the 80 plants only 5 of these ak47's developed nanners. the room is what i like to call fort knox because it is controlled on every aspect to a fraction of a degree.

i will edit this in a bit so i can get some pictures to prove it. i already thrashed the 4 from yesterday but i will upload pictures of this recent one once i get back to my grow area pc.

I grew serious seeds white russian and chronic years ago, both went hermie at about 6 weeks and other plants in room did not, they were wispy and had no resin anyway so i threw them out and moved on. But i thought i read the original post said op veg for 2 weeks from seed then 12/12. I've never flowered them so soon ,usually a cple months to make sure they are somewhat mature before flowering and they usuallly let me know the sex by that time anyway without light flip.

I ordered some AK47 & Kali Mist regs direct from Serious Seeds that should be here in 2 weeks. I'll keep this thread in mind when I get around to popping them

I've been running Serious Seeds strains for the last 3 grows, no problems. I grew AK47 years ago and it grew like a champ.

VAhomegrown check out my Kali Mist journal linked at the bottom left of this post, you'll have no problem with the genetics.

I actually read it a few weeks ago! Def helped cement my decision to get Kali Mist from SS. Also have 3 free fems of Serious Happiness coming with them. I want to try AKBB Kali Mist F4 too, and see how they compare.
