Semi auto-flowering??

I have heard some talk about strains that are NOT auto flowering, but SEMI auto flowering, meaning they will flower at 14/10 (light/dark) and some at 16/8.

Does anyone know of which strains have this semi auto flowering ability?

Thanks everyone!

I haven't heard anything about such thing but doesn't mean it doesn't exsist. I just don't see how there 'semi auto flowering' if your still indusing flowering at 14/10 or whatever. I mean whats the difference from just flowering a normal strain at 12/12? In theory only difference is you will save money on electric bill with a reg seed. IMO you eithier autoflower with your lights on 24/0 or 20/4 or you veg a reg seed at 18/6 then flower it at 12/12 when you want.. anyone else have any other thoughts?

"The first is that each strain has a critical dark period. For convenience, we place all varieties under 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness to flower them indoors. However, some plants flower given fewer hours of darkness. For instance, many varieties start to flower outdoors in August when the light period is 13 to 16 hours and the dark period is 11 to 8 hours.
"

Here is an article that speaks about strains that can flower under different photo periods. 12/12 is the "GOLD STANDARD" that most growers use in order to be on the Safe side of things. But not all cannabis strains need exactly 12/12 to flower. That is probably the largest Myth in cannabis culture.

Since all strains are different, 12/12 is the usual photo period for flowering because it is a known fact that it works with all strains. In fact there are other articles and other growers that even say that 14/10 is better for certain strains than 12/12.

So I was wondering which specific strains are like this. I do know that some Afghani strains can flower under 14/10 without a problem. Early skunk is also a semi auto strain. Semi Auto flowering just means that they can't flower under 24/0 like full auto flowers but if you change the the photo period slightly, they will begin to flower.

Quicksilver! I'm not complaining as I got one fem seed free and have been growing 20/4 with no signs of flower at 8 weeks. I can drop the light down to 12/12 to get her to flower, but I don't want to punish the diesel ryder she is growing next to. So I might just drop to 12/12 after the diesel is done and see just what a big quicksilver can do.

I've heard similar reports from other quicksilver growers. Once again, I am not complaining. Free is free.

I was reading about quicksilver and they say it doesn't begin flowering until about 6 to 8 weeks...so maybe you should give her another week and see what happens...hope that helps

No dice--it didnt flower so I tossed it into 12/12 and that did the trick. It turned out to be a male, but the seed was free so I don't really care.
