selling things to stores

i am interested in selling somethings i make to stores. i want to make dog collars and maybe leashes and sell them to local pet stores. there are many different ways i can make them and they are very strong. normal collars are around 10-20 dollars and they break all the time. mine are made with 550 lb paracord and metal rings and i would wanna sell them for 10-15 i feel that is a fair price for a collar that has less of a chance of breaking.

i am wondering how one would go about selling them in or to the store. would it be best to do consignment or sell it to the store and they make the price.

10-15 dollars RRP I guessing so retailers will want it for around 5 dollars a piece.
so a store would wanna make 100-200%? i was thinking about asking what they would sell it for and then figure out a price. but i dont wanna go into big stores like petsmart and shit i wanna help out the local places i dont like big business

Yeah most stores work on 100-200% margin. Specially on such low ticket items to make it worth there while. I run 2 businesses. Both in buying and selling. The idea is you supply at approx $5 dollars each but have to order 10,20,50 at a time or whatever you wanna quote. May get closer to 10$ but I would say 5-8$ be right but I'm in UK so I only know how works over here. Can't see why would be too much difference.

Stores have rent, bills, etc etc to cover so they don't wanna be taking up space there gonna make 3-5$ on. Not worth there time nd space.

alright thanks for that info. people sell them for around $20+ online so they could probably go for a good price but $8 a unit i wouldnt mind that that sounds better to me haha i guess ill just have to go hit up some places maybe i can get it on consignment at a couple places to get some opinions about them

Sell them one ebay and use paypal for payments. Just remember to incorporate ebays 9% final cost fees and paypal fees into your prices so that way you dont end up losing money. I know there is a market for these on ebay, I especially want to get one for my doggys

eBay would be the way forward for biggest profit margin and people will pay a premium for 100% customisation. Be creative ;)

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude! Long time no speak! I got involved in another hobby that has had me spending most of my time on a different forum. I'm growing coral in a saltwater reef tank now! But yeah, I'm gonna do a little outdoor grow this year, but have been mostly focusing on an indoor perpetual grow where I've been harvesting 3 plants every three weeks!!!!

good to hear you got some sold, I love watching people make shit and sell it. Fucking awesome how its supposed to be done. Good job man, Someone else said it but yeah think about customization. Like weaving the dogs name into the collar somehow, thats be sick. Good luck man hope you make alot

stick um on eaby.... $15 plus $5 ship

Did you mackromay those ...killer I will take 2

Normally you have the ad insertion fee $2-5... then ebay takes 3 -5% of the final selling price depending on how much you made.

If you use paypal to recieve payment they charge another 3 or 4 % of the amount sent to you

for a $15 auction youll receive $9-11...use a paded envolope youll make another $1-2 on the shipping

i read all the ebay fees and stuff and decided to go with etsy since it is cheaper to have a shop on there. might get an ebay shop going tho to try it out. the etsy shop doesnt get much attention. but if you guys are interested here a link http://www.etsy.com/shop/Paracollar?ref=si_shop
if there are certian colors you would like i can do my best to get them. i am always interested in new colors schemes and what not. can even make a rasta one for all you rasta lovers
