Selfing MAC1

Hey Growers, I have a general question about Self pollination. I've never done it before, I have a MAC 1 cut that is a beautiful plant, except my only issue with it, it that it grows very short and stout.
Its veg time is quite long compared to most plants and I was wondering if it would be possible to breed this out of it via self pollinating?
I know about dominant and recessive genes and my thought that I am going with here is if I can "unlock" or express some different genes through self pollinating or if self pollinating will just make a replica that is a weaker variant of the original.
Would I be wasting my time by self pollinating?
Looking for people who have experience in this field

self polinating creates a somewhat diverse progeny. this diversity also depends on how well worked the line is or if its a landrace or hybrid.

but generally you’ll get both weaker and stronger phenos than the original

the morphological traits of the progeny can also be different from the original plant

you have to do pheno run with as much seed as you can to find a keeper after you s1

MAC 1 is extremely small, slow and short. Dank smoke though, if you seed it you're going to just end up with a backcross or something and it will not be the same smoke as @crimsonecho stated.

I grew MAC1 for personals for a while until I got tired of it.

In general, S1s of good cuts are certainly worth growing. The cut you have is just someone's personal selection after all, and so it may not be the ultimate expression of that gene pool. Some plants create better S1s than others, you never know until you try-but sometimes you find plants that are superior to the original cut.

I really appreciate all these responses and opinions.
I think ultimately I will try a run of it to see if I get anything that is worthwhile.
Thank you.
