Seeds Sprouting Up!? What?

Put 10 Humboldt p p d seeds in cups Saturday. Went to check on them this morning and found six had sprouted but the Taproot had come out of the "top"of the soil. I've never seen this before in my life and I've started hundreds and hundreds of seeds of all varieties. I went ahead and pulled those out of the soil and rotated them 180° and Has anyone else experienced this?

That's crazy I've never even heard of a plant not knowing which way is up

You planted it upside down is my guess then yes that can happen lol in all my years growing plants not just weed thats only time i seen it myself

I've grown from seed for decades and never orient the seed in any way when I plant, I've only had it happen once.
