I had 4 AK47auto seeds that germed and I planted.. The taps were about 2mm ( really small ). Im using ff happy frog soil and distilled water.. 2 have sprouted and its been a week so I checked the other 2 and they havent grown at all and the taproots have turned light brownish.. WHY is this happening? I have 1 26 daylight cfl over each of the 4 cups for now ( have a 400w hps/mh for later )

thanks in advance.

yes I dug them up ( they were less than 1/4 inch deep )about 5 min ago and checked them as its been a week since the other 2 sprouted.but I didnt damage them by removing them.. they were just kinda brown.they are back in the dirt but I really doubt they will sprout.. Iunno whats wrong.. out of about 15 seeds ( diff strains ) all I got to germ and/or sprout were 2 . Its really weird.

could just look like a brown discolouring but turn out to be the soil and moisture built on, i wouldnt dig em up again, give them time and keep them humid and moist

I dont think its dirt coloring them.. Its kinda like there rotting? iunno.. I cant really think of anything except maybe the lights are damaging them somehow or something like that.. Iunno.. it sucks just to have 2 seeds out of 15 even sprout.. BOUGHT seeds at that.. whenever I used to experiment w/ schweag bagseed I never had a problem.

I mean, how damn hard can it be to plant a seed in some dirt? ya know? Its really frustrating because I dont know what im doing wrong. If anything.

Sounds like it is probably soggy, rotting out.... I only gave my guys like 5 ml per day when they were in rockwool, and 8/10 came up and are doing good now. My seeds were 2 years old, but still got an 80% germ rate.... Just give them time I guess, and if nothing happens, then nothing happens. Cheers...

Also, I think im going to buy some rockwool for future attempts..Is that the preffered medium for seeds?

thx again.

Rockwool has issues, pH can be a factor. Peat blocks are good too. Soil is fine as well, just have to make sure it drains well, and is mixed properly. I like rockwool because it is so easy to use, and you can guage moisture in it very well. I kept mine "damp" I would touch the outsid of it, it would be firm, but my finger got moist. Meaning, it is retaining plenty of moisture, but is not saturated...
I mean, some never get a better ratio than 50% seedling rate, which is low, near the end stage of seed shelf life. Check with you seed vendor, some guarewntee a 70% germinationrate. If that is the case, they may ship you some freebies...
