Seeds and Tents Vs Cabinets

So the other day I got myself a 10 pack of TGA SubCool 9 Lb Hammer (GooberryXJesusOG) and a 6 pack of Medicine Man Blue Frost (Blueberry DieselXPlatinum Cookies). I also found a nice looking seed in a bag of Hindu Kush.. Saving all of them for next season or if I choose to get a tent or Cabinet.. I started a patio grow at the end of March so I am just testing my skills. Anybody have experience with these strains?

Any suggestions on tents or cabinets? http://www.cabinetgrow.com has some nice prefabbed tents but I will use LED because I am cautious of possibility of fire at my apartment. The Gorilla Tents are NICE, but the don't really come with anything but the tent and I am too novice to put all that stuff together...

Sorry you are not getting any responses, just not really understanding the question

....both a cabinet and a tent will require that you "put all that stuff together"....in fact I think the cabinet would be more work and effort.

I have not grown those strains so no opinion from me

I only put the hmm response to follow my thread to look for responses.. As far as tents and cabinets go, cabinet grow.com has cabinets that come with everything and also have tents that come with everything, however, gorilla tents just come with the tent and I would have to go and buy everything else ala carte. So my question regarding tents and/or cabinets was anybody's past or present future experience with them. Ease or difficulty of use for a novice like me. Just worried about the ensuing aroma mid june so debating a 3 x 3 x7 gorilla tent.

WRT buying all in one kits.....

I was all up for getting one of the "all in one grow kits" because of the seemingly massive savings as opposed to buying separates and the convenience of knowing I have everything I need.

The truth of the matter is that a lot of the kit is the absolute lowest quality you can get.

My inline fan sounded like a jet engine taking off and required $40 worth of acoustic ducting (after having paid for inadequate non-acoustic ducting that came with the kit), another $20 on a cheap comforter to wrap around the fan to dampen the noise.

I worry for the quality of the carbon filter because if that fails the game is up.

Luckily for me, I only bought my airflow equipment as a kit, and opted for more expensive options on the rest, such as a quality dimmable digital ballast, a larger, sturdier tent. I really wish I had spent more on my reflector too, not using a cool tube simply means I am not getting the best out of my lights, having to keep them 2 feet away instead of a few inches.

You buy cheap, you buy twice, simple as that. Hope this helps you choose!

Cool! Thank you for your input FlashBabylon. So living in an apartment, I worry about fire or overheating.. Because of that I am leaning toward a really nice LED, possibly a DuraMax V2. I do not understand what ballasts are used for or if they are needed for LED. I would appreciate any input.. Thanks.

Area 51 is the LED light that you should be looking at.

So I am looking at a 3x3x6 gorilla tent to fit 4-6 plants in a 2nd bedroom in an apartment.. What size/tpye Area 51 would I need for that size and that may girls?

A $20 speed controller makes a HUGE difference. I have a 440CFM inline fan and at 80% speed the noise is cut by about half, and I almost never turn the speed up past 50-60%. If that's still too loud I've heard Panasonic's Whisper fans are incredibly quiet.

OP, it's really not that hard to buy everything separate, and a kit will probably have a lot of cheap parts. Just pick out a tent and find out how big the holes for the duct is. For a 6 inch duct, get a 600w light or stronger, for 4 inch get 400w or less. That's for HPS/MH lights, but 600w of LEDs or CFLs will generate a lot of heat too. A ballast is needed for HPS and MH lights. Technically, LEDs and CFLs need them too, but they have them built-in.

So should I just go with 6 inch fan and ducting for LED, if say I choose a high output type LED such as area 51 190 or DuraMax V2?

I bought (and still use) a 400W tent kit from HTG garden supply when I started a couple of years ago. It's an Agromax tent that I like a lot. Not knowing what I was doing, I went with the basic kit, but have since added a cool tube with inline fan and a carbon filter. There isn't actually enough room in the small tent (2.5x3.5 footprint, or thereabouts) for me to hook the filter to the fan to the cool tube and have it all suspend from the ceiling, so I have the inline fan exhausting the cool tube and used another exhaust fan for the filter. It's still not ideal, but it's workable and fits my space.

If you purchase a kit, do get the cool tube and carbon filter upgrades. Keeping temps and odor under control are critical.

Already got one. Didn't make enough difference and that's why 2 comforters (bought one and used a spare from the house), 2 towels and a roll of cling film were necessary to bring the noise down to anywhere near an acceptable level (ie, no more than the noise produced by the oscillating desk fan inside the tent).

OP - make sure you go to a shop and check the fan you are considering is quiet enough.

I just wanted to comment on ur number of plants for ur tent. I think a 3x3 footprint will only allow about 2 plants to grow and 1 is prolly more realistic for you. Keep it low by either LST or mainlining or any technique that will allow u to have a low bushy canopy.
I haven't grown the strains u mentioned however as a rule TGA gear yields pretty small buds but they make up in quality for the small size.

I would think about the RW-150, I have been doing this for little while and I have never heard of the Duramax LEDs

Really, just one plant in a 3x3 DannyBoy? You mean as height, as far as light coverage with the canopy cuz I have four 5 gallon pots that fit in 30 x 30 inch space in my patio.. I saw a review that the gorilla it actually 40 x 40 inch.. I guess maybe 4 would be just right with those measurements?

So would the solar flare 220 full cycle be the one? Will that be enough for 3-6 plants?
