seeds and rooting hormone?

can you use rooting hormone with seeds?

like dip seed in rooting hormone before germination?

would you benefit from germinating seeds them dipping baby tap root in rooting hormone?

by rooting hormone i mean rootone
Never heard of that, but that doesn't make it not true.

I use seaweed extract at 1 tbsp/gal and soak the medium twice a week, or when needed for the first couple of weeks. Then starting the third week I usually go to my regular fertilizing schedule.

LMAO, you making out its just a case of throwing the seeds in soil and walking away.......... ive never grown a MJ plant (ive tried). I got 5 seeds in paper towel in a lovely warm dark spot (premium seeds from a good website). only 3 grew a tail. Planted them all anyway. only 2 came out of the soil with their first two leaves THEY BOTH DIED IN 24HRS.

Good ventilation
400w HPS
good soil.

Cannabis plants are not straight forward to grow. in fact they thrive in host humid climates. making the ideal temperate for these sensitive and difficult to grow plants is not easy.
You do realize that this thread is 5 years old and he probably doesn't need any advice now.

Just because a thread is old does not mean it becomes irrelevant. I am asking (in April 2018) the same QUESTIONS:

(1) CAN I DIP MY UN-GERMINATED MARIJUANA SEEDS IN ROOT STIMULATOR BEFORE PLANTING?
(2) SHOULD I USE A SOLUTION CONTAINING ROOT STIMULATOR TO WATER MY GERMINATED SEEDS AND CONTINUE TO WATER THE YOUNG SEEDLINGS WITH THE SAME ROOT STIMULATOR SOLUTION UNTIL THEY REACH ABOUT 6 INCHES HEIGHT?

I was going to dip (a presoak for 4-8 hrs) my seeds in a weak solution of the liquid rooting hormone solution, Dip N Gro, until my online research led me to an article describing Dip N Gro as a pesticide. This is why I was happy to find this thread. And BLZBOB's comment that he used a solution containing "organic" Green Fusion Root Stimulator got me thinking. I haven't done intensive research on the ingredients and suggested possible uses for Green Fusion Root Stimulator.

I was going to roll my dampened presoaked, ungerminated-uncracked seeds in an endomycorrhizal wettable MYCORRHIZAL powder before inserting each seed into its Root Riot plug, and then keep the Root Riot plug moist by misting it with a weak solution containing a rooting hormone like Green Fusion.

I have to find out if any of the rooting hormone products do not contain any forms of pesticides because then using them would defeat the benefits of adding mychorrizal products to my seeds and seedlings.

I have read several articles advising against using the "paper towel method" and I will not do i"the paper towel" method for the reasons given by learned scientists who earn their keep by doing research on germination methods. Just because the "paper towel method" has a long and popular history does not make it the best way.

If someone runs across this thread about using rooting stimulator hormonal products to add to germination of MJ seeds, I would be very appreciative of your responses and shared experiences.

I use fertilome 1/4 root STIMULATOR on established seedlings sparingly.

Also 400W HPS isn't that too strong for a seedling? Also soil may be too strong, start in hydro type media no nutes.

im going to try it tonight when i get home from work i have 10 purple widow seeds i have in a paper towel and 10 more in a shot glass full of water ( what to see the best way to germ) i will try the hormone on 5 of each seed and post my finding to the wide world or rollitup:bigjoint:
My seeds wont germ so I have water in a shot glass with one drop of rooting hormone in it so well see how that goes

Nothing helps a healthy seed sprout and it already has all the rooting hormone it needs hence why.it grows roots and more would simply create an imbalance.

Nature isnt that wimpy kid at school who.needs a leg up its that biological freak that hits 100% efficiency no babying needed.

I dont like kelp or seaweed for seedlings but i do soak 24 hours before sowing directly to soil just because it brings uniformity in germination time plus speed :-)

GA3 helps with seeds over year old. Studies are out there.
Directly in soil makes it pop the surface fastest. Just need to get technique right. There was a test on YouTube. Paper towel is the worst only good for impatience.
Soak 24 was second best method. So ima try half day soak plus soil now on and try that.

Theres a basic scientific reason to GA3.

Soak is quicker than directly to soil.

I am pro at paper towel as am all methods its of no concern to those who understand everything but new growers should master straight to soil first.

Youtube is lame for grow info :-)

This is know as "Bio-Priming" in the world of plant pathology biology . It is used in commercial crops or lab environments for germinating seeds.
They use the beneficial bacteria fungi called "Trichoderma", this fungi is a bioagent (good stuff), make a paste like solution and mix it with the seeds. Then allow the seeds to germinate. The "Trichoderma" is a bio fungicide and rooting promoter, it will prevent damping off and other fungus stuff right from the get go. Its similar to the "myco great white sharky stuff" which has "Trichoderma" fungi on it's ingredient list.

Here is a book about "bio-priming" seeds:
.

As from my statement above, you are using a rooting hormone, which is classified as a chemical, which isn't a bioagent. However I asked myself the same question and there are papers who conducted tests on this matter. Simply put, yes you can use a rooting hormone to act as a "bio-priming" and should get better results than not doing so. I would use a rooting hormone that has "IBA" in it's ingredient list.

Here is a paper who conducted some tests and got good results in germinating seeds using rooting hormone:

Old thread but you could but rooting Hormones and mychorazae (great white etc) are 2 different things. rooting gel/ powder are acids and mychorazea are beneficial bacteria
