Seedlings In Rockwool

Can freshly sprouted seedlings in Rockwool cubes go straight into your hydro system....or do you have to wait for roots to come thru the bottom of the cube 1st?

Is it mandatory to wait....or is that just to ensure the plant has rooted before moving them?

Man, thats the way to start.
Start with your unsprouted seed in the cube, IF you have a Bubblponics System with tubes running to the cube.
IF you have just a simple DWC system, then get some roots first on the sprout and then put it in a cube in the system.
OR put the sprouted seed in the cube and pour water on it VERY Frequently.

Well I germ'd 6 seeds in Rockwool cubes...2 sprouted from the cubes already...Ive been alternating sprayings of water one day...1/2 strength FoxFarm ferts the other.

I just was wondering if I could go ahead and put the 2 that sprouted in my dwc bubbler yet.

Also I dont have very much light for them if they arent under the "good lights". Right now the cubes sit under 4- 23w cfl bulbs placed about an inch or two away from tops of sprouts. I figured it would take a while to get those roots popping thru under those lights.

Thats a busted link Roseman: www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-...s-systems.html

try this:

I'd use straight water and no nutes the first 4 or 5 days, then go to weaker 50% mix.
Next time, start seeds using wet papertowel method under a bowl to sprout seeds,(4 days) then put sprouts in cubes and spray or moist them daily until you see the roots reach the water line in the resovoir.
Babies can survie well on weak lights. If you use CFLs, put them 3 inches away, maybe 2 inches. after two weeks tho, throw the strong lights to them.
Let me know how I can help ya.
