Hello

My seedling broke soil about two and a half days ago and it is beginning to stretch. I have a grow light that you get from your typical hardware store but I also have about ten 2700K CFL bulbs that aren't being used yet. I understand that you have to use 6500K bulbs during Vegetative growth while using a mixture of 6500 and 2700 during the flowering stage. The hardware store light has a blue hue to the light so im thinking that it the right spectrum for vegetative stage. My question is what is the name of the 6500K CFL bulbs? Daylight? Soft White? Are the 6500 K bulbs really necessary? Any help is much appreciated

6500k is in the cool white range. (4000k is in the daylight range.).

If you're using 2700k in veg, yes I think you need 6500k. Probably a 1:1 ratio. Maybe 1:2 2700:6500.

If you have to buy a 6500, you might consider a Cree LED "lightbulb" from Home Depot. They're 30-40% more efficient, run cooler, 10-year warranty. I use them for sidelighting in flower. (I've flowered entirely with them and Cree PAR38 spotlights as toplighting.).
