Seedling to vegging transition question.

I am starting my first grow and would like some help, please. I germinated the seeds in a covered cup of water. After seeing a white root emerging, I placed the seeds in a rooter plugs. Now I am going to transplant the seedling to a 2" net pot with a neoprene collar in a aeroponic SOG setup. The seedlings are an inch tall with two pairs of leafs and a single white root grow out of the plug bottom. Do I extract the seedling from the rooter plug and put it in the net pot held up with the neoprene collar or do I stick the seedling with the rooter plug in the net pot? Will the debris from the rooter plug plug up my sprayers? How long to a wait to transplant them?

Thanks, guys. How long do I wait before setting the seedlings with plugs into the neoprene collar? Looks like a snug fit and I want the seedling to be robust enough.

Why do you need a neoprene collar if you used the plug? The neoprene collar is so you don't use a plug to begin with. In my experience(30 years), the rapid rooter will bring on root rot later on. So you better have some bennies in you hydro to begin with. The plugs are organic material and break down over time.

Because I germinated from seeds and I am doing am aeroponic SOG grow. How can I use a neoprene collar from seeds?

Germinate in a paper towel and put the paper towel in a ziploc bag for 48 hours and you should have a 3 to 4 inch germinated root. Then you put the root with tweezers in a neoprene collar and (seedling) for 48 hours in a small bubbler unit and let the roots go down a little more, then grab the neoprene collar with your new seedling and put in your aeroponic unit and done.

Thanks, twisted. That's what I'm going to do in the future. I just about destroyed 2 seedlings extracting the rapid rooters. One looked dead and the single root stared to discolor. I kept it under the 300W LED and the aeroponic sprayers and a week later new roots started to branch out! I guess that's why they call them weeds.

That is why they call em weeds and twisted is right do not start them in root plugs b/c your adding extra work and unnessessary stress to the seedking. Dont be mistaken tho, weeds or not you can absolutley damage a plant that small in a heartbeat. But like someone else said wash it in warm water and gently get what you can off as far as dirt. Also post pics so others can see and learn from what your doing. Even tho its your first grow someone else might have the same question as yoy and it could help that person, which is what this sit is all about. Good luck to you!!

Here a picture of the seedling that look like a goner:

You can see the discolored single root in the middle. That was all that was there and the edges of the first leaves were yellowed and curled. I left it in the net pot and really though it was over and a few days later I see the some new roots spiking out!
